How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“It all started in October 2022 when Michael and I bought a house in the area. We were driving around to explore and stubbled upon Ridgecrest. I had always wanted to get married on the side of a cliff. I said wouldn't it be so cool to get married here? Right in our town? Fast forward to seeing an ad for Stroudsmoor wedding expo. I wasn't even engaged and I booked us two tickets. It was just one day before the expo, when Michael proposed. I only had one venue in mind. Ridgecrest. When I would tell people where I was getting married at, I will never forget what everyone said; "it is so pretty there and the staff take such great care of you". And oh my gosh, YES do they ever take care of you! I can have panic attacks but the staff kept me focused. I was well care for with patience and love. I learned new techniques to distract me from anxiety that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you Belkis, Corinne, Kaylie, Becca, Corinne's sister and Carolyn. You ladies kept me together. At the end of wedding night, I have received nothing but positive compliments of how stunning my wedding was. It was the best wedding some guests had attended. The most beautiful. The happiest. Room was filled with love and everyone could feel it. Guests told me the food was great. So much food. So many IPA choices. Appetizers were great. Band was awesome. Venue stunning. Views of the valley gorgeous. Live painter was amazing. Hair and make-up made my girls into bombshells. A luxury deluxe wedding. I went all out for this wedding. Deciding to book it for March and hoping for snow. And sure enough, during my vows I got my a small flurry of snow. This place is magic. I would do it again and again. Wedding planning is stressful but this place made it easy with an all in one package. Hair and make up, catering, floral and decor, bakery, and lodging ALL on site!! Then just use their wedding expo to research and pick a photographer, music, transportation and officiant. And you have all the major stuff already done! The next day after my wedding I did not have a feeling of let down. I was on cloud 9. And I told Michael, this place can just take my money again and again.”

“Amazing!!!!! We had our wedding at Deity on June 21, 2024. We are not exaggerating when we say it exceeded our wildest dreams. We chose Deity because we wanted a very Brooklyn vibe to our whole day, and you just can’t beat this space: the exposed brick, the lighting, the vintage feel of the bridal suite, the speakeasy-like atmosphere of the cellar, and the gorgeous building were exactly what we wanted. And then we met the staff. We could write a book about the people who work and run Deity; they made our day. Anna and Caio radiate love of love, and they are clearly committed to making weddings magical. We were so calm on the day of our wedding thanks to them. Every single person on the staff was thoughtful, personable, kind, and professional. The guests raved about the staff, the food (the food!!! Omg delicious!), the space, the DJ (Ben was awesome!), and the bartenders. Our wedding felt seamless and we actually got to enjoy every moment. We’d say the bridal suite is a must; it’s gorgeous and it added so much to the day to get ready there and have a first look. We faced a heat wave, so we barely used the rooftop, but it was lovely to go up there for photos. We did a tasting of the food beforehand and were so impressed, and it tasted even better day-of. The chef also surprised us with an epic cheese and fruit platter in addition to the appetizers during cocktail hour, and our guests loved it. Anna, the day-of coordinator, and Anastasia both took really good care of us. They built in moments for us to have alone time, helped us with our clothes and belongings, and kept everything moving smoothly. The pricing, as advertised, is transparent and there are no hidden fees. It was a really affordable wedding for New York and for us, and we appreciated that we were able to budget for it from the start with no surprises. “I went to the open house last year and fell in love with the Venue at First sight. The grass, pecan trees, citrus trees, and then 40,000 lights sold the deal. We got married on 5/25/24, with almost all guests flying in. Every guest commented on how romantic the venue was. Stephanie and Ben were the best; they were both very professional and provided their expertise when needed. I can't forget how the ceremony went perfectly due to the support and always encouraging staff, especially Ben. Ensemble Catering is a part of the venue, and being that I have mostly foodie friends, everyone thought the food was delicious. The late-night Fries and Cookie Wall were discussed for the next few days when guests called to say how much they enjoyed the evening. Another consideration in my 5-star review is that the vendors in the package and on their website were just as great to work with. My husband and I are so grateful to everyone who worked that day and all the others who helped plan and make it the best day of our lives. “TEN REASONS TO BOOK THIS VENUE (even before seeing it in person!) We booked sight unseen to get our preferred date, and the venue is only better in person! 1. Truly all inclusive and QUALITY services/ care. The Summit Team is responsive, flexible, professional, and kind. The local vendors they connect you with are detail oriented and make your vision come to life. We used their florist, DJ, caterer, baker, and photographer. We were thrilled with all of those services! The packages come with a coordinator and planner. They are incredible and make your life SO easy! I had no idea how much a would utilize these services. 2. There is no shortage of adorable decorations for you to choose from, so you save a ton of money by using what they provide (comes with the package) The Summit team sets it up and breaks it down for you. I’m particular and was honest about not liking burlap or lace. They really listened and made sure the style was exactly what I wanted. They have everything available to you on their Pinterest so it was easy to make decor selections. 3. The absolute best mountain view in North GA!!!! And there is no road noise. You might hear a ‘moo’ from the cows grazing on the hill. We toured a ton of venues and felt that a lot of them were too noisy or that parking/ layout was limiting for our handicapped guests. Summit is conveniently laid out and everything is accessible. We didn’t have to hike a mile to get beautiful photos. 4. The food is excellent! We had the Granny’s style menu and guests raved about it! Our cake was also gorgeous. They provided everything needed for dinnerware and refreshments and kept the drink stand replenished all evening while we danced! 5. It’s convenient from the ATL airport, and there’s plenty to do for guests traveling. Our family did a local wine tour. Tube the Cartecay if the weather permits! Some of our guests rented cabins and others stayed at the Hilton in downtown Blue Ridge (we provided a shuttle) and it worked out nicely for everyone! 6. The on-site accommodation (The Lewis House) is adorable! They also help you with recommendations for local accommodations/ transportation if your guests are traveling. 7. Our dog was able to be a part of our photos and ceremony! We only needed someone to take him back to the cabin for the reception. 8. Our loved ones got to enjoy the day with us. I’ve been in plenty of weddings where we worked all day and didn’t get to enjoy the celebration. The Summit Team gave our family and friends the space to cherish our day. 9. We selected the Apple Package upgrades, and our guests loved the boxed apple pies as favors. This was one less thing on our list and I would highly recommend the investment! 10. I enjoyed my wedding. The planning process was not stressful, and I felt as though I was the only bride at Summit because of how attentive the staff was. Thank you for making our wedding dream come true! Donauschwaben’s German-American Cultural Center is a banquet hall in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Couples don't need German heritage or lederhosen to enjoy the elegant splendor of this wedding venue. We are conveniently located 12 minutes from the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Our Main Hall can accommodate 300+ guests for a wedding. There is a minimum of 150 guests required June-October and 125 guests all other months. It has high ceilings with beautiful lighting, a large dance floor and built-in stage perfect for a live band or DJ. There is also an attached patio that overlooks a lake and fountain. Our wedding packages start at $73 per person and include appetizers, dinner, open bar, chair covers, centerpiece options and more! “Wedding venue shopping is a lot on a couple. It takes time and energy and can be very stressful. However, when we say we found the perfect place we mean it. Donauschwaben’s was one of our venue choices coming highly recommended by our friends and family already. We reached out through their website and within no time we got an immediate response from the Christine, Event/ Wedding planner to set up a meeting together. She is not only extremely kind, but had everything organized so beautifully to choose from it was a no-brainer to choose this venue. She even recommended our DJ who had played a previous wedding there who was incredible. All communication leading up to our big day was efficient and layed out easily for us to understand. Our checks were deposited in a timely manner by the venue, our tasting was so nice and so delicious. The no pressure wedding planning was worth every penny spent. Our wedding day was so special and so beautiful from start to finish from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, to our lovely reception to follow. Not only was Christine present the day of, but the staff was also on their A game all night long. Everyone was so incredibly friendly and kind, we felt like royalty. We both highly recommend this venue and if you do, definitely get the Schnitzel, Prost! “100% would recommend Walden for a stress-free wedding experience!!! We knew Walden was our venue when we read about their full-service wedding packages including planners, kitchen/bar all under one roof. After we toured the venue, we could not wait to have our wedding here. Our main planners were Hannah and Briscel, and we had the pleasure of a 3rd planner, Ally with a last-minute day-of staffing change. Hannah and Briscel took the stress out of wedding planning, keeping us on track with every detail and vendor. Ally made sure the wedding day ran seamlessly. One of the best things we loved about working with the planners was their recommendations for local vendors (floral, DJ, photography etc.). Their assistance contacting and coordinating calls/quotes from vendors was also a huge help. Every possible detail regarding the wedding was accounted for, so we were certain nothing would be missed along the way. Now for the fun part, our wedding day was absolutely perfect and better than we ever dreamt. The coordinators kept us on schedule and sent an itinerary in advance, so everyone knew where to be and what was coming up next. They handled all of the communication with vendors and all the little details, so we could fully be present on our wedding day. We did not have any moments of stress, or panic, and was rarely asked any questions or to do any tasks. The Walden team set everything up for us from the welcome sign to the memorial table and of course the gorgeous reception room. It’s like suddenly we got teleported into our Pinterest vision board! A big shout out to Nick and Matt, the kitchen and bar staff. They were absolutely amazing! The drinks were awesome, the bartenders could make any drink guests wanted including mocktails. The food was incredible, so many guests complimented on how delicious their meals were. We also really appreciated their accommodations for various food restrictions and preferences. Overall, the Walden staff has truly thought of everything. They made the very daunting task of planning a wedding much more manageable, and made the whole day that much more special. Could not think of a better venue in the area for folks planning a wedding!”

“The Oviatt is a wonderful venue and it was such a pleasure working with Lindsey and Gabe! We knew during our tour that the Oviatt was the right venue for us. The size (for small-medium sized weddings), location, and character of the venue is really unparalleled. Then layer on top table and linen deal when you work with a preferred catering vendor and the Oviatt is the best deal in town! Gabe was very helpful during the touring and contracting phase. He communicates very clearly which made the process very smooth. There were no surprise charges at any point. The cost of everything was communicated very clearly upfront. Then, once we signed the contract, we worked with Lindsey, the director of events who supports the planning phase. Lindsey answered all of our questions in a timely and patient manner. She never hesitated to answer our questions, even when the answers to our questions were clearly outlined in the welcome packet! The event planning tools the team uses makes it incredibly easy to stay up on all of the planning details from floorplan to linen selections, to guest count - the tool handles it all with clear deadlines for each task. Finally, on the day of our wedding the Oviatt team executed the event so smoothly. Everything went off without a hitch! Our guests were so impressed by the venue. Quintessential LA rooftop vibe with art deco architecture. Such a treat. We would recommend the Oviatt to anybody looking to get married in the downtown area.
