Lewis and built in 1901. Designated a Virginia Historic Landmark and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, Avoca is the home site of Colonel Charles Lynch, Revolutionary War hero. On the of grounds of the Museum, enjoy your private event with the ambiance of the Avoca mansion and the original Revolutionary War era kitchen, as well as 18th century outbuildings. Hi, I'm Liz! I'm based in Lynchburg, VA. I moved here from Los Angeles where I studied Fashion Design and Merchandising. Photography has been a huge passion of mine since I was in middle school but one class in college that really sparked my interest again. When the Pandemic hit, I was 6 months pregnant and starting to realize that I didn't enjoy my job anymore. I was so tired of working 50-60 hours a week and realized the most important thing to me was to be there to raise my child. So, that was that and here I am.

My photography journey started in high school, photographing church and community events. From there it was natural transition to begin offering photo sessions to my friends and family, and so Joy Shots was born in 2014.I was privileged to shoot my first wedding for a friend in 2015 and I have since had the honor to photograph over 50 weddings. I love the chances I have to work with couples from their initial engagement session through their wedding day, through capturing their growing families down through the years.
