Skylark Music

5.0

  • Band or Ensemble
  • Serves Sugar Loaf, NY

Jesse and Justin have been playing music together since they met performing in a band at Disneyland in 2001. After moving to Beacon, NY around the same time, it made sense to start an official wedding music business to share their love of music with some of the many happy couples getting married in the Hudson Valley. One thing they love about playing music for weddings is the variety that is required of them. Every gig is different and they all happen on one of the happiest days of the clients' lives!

Awarded Best of Zola
Jesse was amazing at our wedding and we cannot recommend his service more. He was incredibly professional and responsive over email, and respected our music requests. When the wedding day came around, he kept our guests entertained during cocktail hour and transitioned seamlessly to our dinner service. Further, when he discovered there was an antique piano in our venue (which we didn't mention to him since the venue told us it wasn't tuned or working), he asked permission to get it running and used it instead of his keyboard. This made for even better ambiance and photos and we were very impressed at how quickly he adapted. We can confidently recommend Jesse and Skylark Music for any wedding and are very thankful to them making our day so special!

Frann and her team are the absolute best! I knew I was in the best hands from my very first conversation with Frann. She made me feel at ease and ran such a tight ship with a team of amazing artists. I felt amazing and the rest of my bridal party all remarked on how it was the best they’ve looked getting the hair and makeup done for a wedding! Application was flawless, everyone looked like themselves, and the makeup lasted all night! As a bride with curly hair, I wanted someone who would want to work with my natural curls and really highlight them, which is exactly what Frann did! The morning ran so smoothly, I was in shock…just do yourself a favor and book now!

My goal is to make you feel confident, radiant, and totally yourself when you walk down the aisle.

Bekah was AMAZING to work with!!! She is friendly, responsive, reliable, and so so talented! I had a wonderful bridal trial with her. She made me feel comfortable and confident in the look we created together. She is very skilled at color-matching and blending to create a natural, glowing look. Some of my bridesmaids had skin allergies and Bekah was great about using their foundation products! She was also a joy to have in the bridal suite the morning of the wedding. Our makeup all lasted so well all night, even after dancing! I would highly recommend Bekah!! She is so reasonably priced for the high quality service she provides!

Heather worked magic at our wedding! We hired Cullen Creations for the full design package since we were getting married 10hrs from where we live and needed the extra support in creating ideas and figuring out the full design plan! Heather was incredibly dedicated to our vision and put in a lot of time and effort to help create the best Scottish Castle wedding for us. She was extremely friendly and easy to work with, and her team did an amazing job with the on-site setup and removal. I brought her a general idea, but she really made it come to life without much effort on my end! I could not be more thrilled with how it turned out and would recommend her to anyone and everyone!

Where do I even begin with Jess? I had the pleasure of working with her some time ago, and when it came to choosing someone for our special day, I couldn’t have picked anyone better. Her work is absolutely impeccable, but beyond that, she’s one of the most thoughtful and caring people you’ll ever meet. She made the entire process so easy for us and truly became a highlight of our wedding planning. Jess captured both our engagement photos and wedding photos, and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. If you’re looking for a photographer, stop now she’s one of the best in the business. As a boutique collective, we customize each ensemble and setlist based on your vision, so your wedding day feels uniquely like your day.

Working with Scott and his band was the best decision we made on our wedding day. We had a very specific vision where we would have a jazz quartet during the cocktail hour and have the pianist and bassist play classical music during the cocktail hour. While this was an atypical setup (usually Cello and Piano), Scott's band was up to the challenge and they absolutely nailed it! I even got to get up and sing a Sinatra standard, and play a tune on trumpet with the cocktail band to my now wife! What great energy the group had, they welcomed me in with open arms and smiles, and we really couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!

Our wedding weekend at Black Walnut Farm was nothing short of extraordinary. I had always dreamed of more than just a single day or a few hours of celebration. I imagined a full weekend surrounded by our favorite people, celebrating a love I had hoped for my entire life. Black Walnut Farm made that dream a reality in the most magical way. My fiancé and I got engaged in June 2024 and waited until August to begin planning so we could savor being engaged. Black Walnut Farm was our first venue visit. During their open house, we explored the property while enjoying signature cocktails and bites, and we immediately felt at home meeting Jim. His warmth, charisma, and genuine spirit set the tone for everything that followed. The estate is breathtaking. Acres of beauty, an enchanting forest, whimsical gardens, and a farmhouse filled with stunning, eclectic antiques. Within minutes, we knew our search was over. As we left, Jim smiled, saying he could tell we had found “the one.” The planning process was seamless and stress-free. As someone who goes with the flow, I was amazed by how organized and supportive the team was. Timelines, documents, and communication were clear and thoughtful. Sarah, co-owner and Jim’s partner, made the experience effortless. While the venue is largely a la carte, Sarah provides a curated list of trusted vendors so you never feel lost. Together, Sarah and Jim are an unmatched team. We chose the weekend package, allowing us and six guests to stay in the farmhouse from Thursday through Monday. Walking in felt like stepping into a dream. We were greeted with a handwritten card, a charcuterie board, and champagne. Fresh banana bread, muffins, and cookies were displayed, the refrigerator stocked with snacks, drinks, and s’mores essentials, and a bar cart held homemade old fashioneds. Every room included robes and fresh water by the bedside, and fireplaces were ready with stacked firewood. Our honeymoon suite was spacious and cozy, with its own fireplace, sitting area, and clawfoot tub. Black Walnut Farm even created a custom flag with our names and named a tree in our honor, a meaningful and unforgettable touch. On Friday evening, we hosted our rehearsal dinner for fifty-five guests in the barn, which perfectly blends rustic elegance with antique details and warmth. The staff’s pride and attention to detail were evident, and Jim, Sarah, or Lindsey were always nearby to ensure everything ran smoothly. After dinner, my bridesmaids and I returned to the farmhouse for a cozy night by the fire watching Father of the Bride. Our wedding day was pure magic. We got ready together in a sun-filled room, sharing laughter and happy tears. We exchanged vows in the forest, a fairytale setting. The celebration continued in the barn with cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and dessert. Guests loved the barn loft, complete with a photo booth and a phone for leaving messages. Although the weather prevented our planned bonfire hour, Sarah and Jim graciously extended our time in the barn, ensuring the night remained just as special. This weekend was the best experience of our lives. Our friends and family still talk about how incredible it was. We are endlessly grateful to Sarah, Jim, Miss Lily, and the entire Black Walnut Farm team for creating a wedding weekend we will cherish forever.

Allyse Pulliam Photography Inc.

5.0

  • Photographer
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $3,500
  • Serves Sugar Loaf, NY

Allyse Pulliam Photography Inc. is a wife and husband partnership between award-winning photojournalist Allyse Pulliam and wedding photographer extraordinaire Nick Gross. We are down-to-earth, fun, and flexible, and we love our jobs. Our goal is to capture joyful, emotional, and artistic photos of your day and for you to feel happy and comfortable while we do it. We don't care who you are, where you are from, what you did (but extra points if it was cool), as long as you love each other. We are currently located in Newburgh, NY and will happily travel to anywhere you may be

Allyse was amazing, to say the least. My husband and I got married on July 4th and wanted to incorporate fireworks into our event somehow. Our venue wouldn’t allow it for safety reasons(understandable) so we talked to Allyse and decided to do a first look a few nights before with fireworks. The photos from the first look were amazing! We started during daylight and they captured everything perfectly. But let me tell you, the way the photos with the fireworks came out was STUNNING!!! Only a true professional could have done what they did! Allyse and her husband did a fantastic job snapping everything moment of our wedding and catching some of the sweetest memories that I can cherish forever- including my 80 year old grandmother holding my 3 month old son! The look of love on her face was so candid and sweet. I’ve had numerous guests tell me later that my photographers were “awesome, fun and so amazing, how did you find them?” And that really sums them up, they were so awesome and the most fun! They didn’t even have to tell you to smile because you were already laughing and having a good time! We are so grateful for their work and highly recommend them!

As a natural light photographer, I have a deep love for capturing the most beautiful moments that life presents. My passion lies in preserving these precious memories through my lens. I strive to showcase the magic and authenticity found in everyday moments. Through my photography, I aim to create images that inspire and evoke emotions in those who view them.

Awarded Best of Zola
Lisa was hands down one of my top vendors for my September 2024 wedding. Ultimately when booking vendors we had two non- negotiables- affordability and character. I met with several photographers before her and either their pricing was not within our range or I didn’t feel any “connection” with them. When I met Lisa over FaceTime I was in Target with my two toddlers because I had my schedule mixed up. She laughed about it and we were able to have a productive meeting despite the mix up. I hired Lisa not long after and I am so glad I did. Besides from being a phenomenal photographer, her personality is what put the cherry on top. She is detail oriented and assertive - like myself- and had a very efficient way of photographing our bridal party where we were even able to enjoy our cocktail hour without having a first look. She was excellent and extremely patient with our two kids. Our family loved her as did we! We were even able to get her out on the dance floor for a bit! We wish we didn’t live so far away otherwise we would be using her as our photographer a whole lot. Thank you Lisa for being such an important part of our day and for having such an incredible heart.

DJ Lou Paris is a Wedding DJ out of the Hudson Valley area of NY, providing an extraordinary service to my clients. From gathering all the important information about your wedding in detail to having emergency plans in place to make sure there are no interruptions. I go the extra mile in everything that is done.

Awarded Best of Zola
My wife and I had Lou DJ our upstate wedding and it was more than we could have dreamed of. From the beginning, he was nothing but professional. He met with us multiple times prior to the event to go over music selection, flow of the ceremony day etc. His website was very easy to use and allowed us to have a large role in our music selection for the day, even for the reception dance portion. Everything was reviewed at least 3 times to ensure there were no hiccups, and also to make sure we wouldn't have to worry about anything on the ceremony day. On the day, Lou came in very early to setup and his equipment was extremely unobtrusive and sounded amazing. From the ceremony to reception (and especially cocktail hour), the sound was fantastic and there was not a single hiccup (even with an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour!). His flow through the reception was so smooth - and as a former college radio DJ, his music choice to fill in the gaps between the 'must plays' we sent him were impeccable!!! If you have a big heart for music and want it to be the backbone of any great party while having one of the most professional guys out there - Lou is 100% your guy. Thanks again Lou!!!!

A good friend of mine has said that my brand is to care. She isn’t wrong-my brand is one of caring because my being is one of caring. I’ve been a wedding photog for 14+ yrs. I find that being a wedding photog is a gift - I barely have the words to describe how special it feels to be invited into clients’ most momentous & intimate wedding moments over & over again. I’m a champion for the weird & whimsical, the fun & funky - even & especially on wedding days. Plan your day the way you want to, trends be damned. Let your wedding day reflect your joy. That’s what we’re all there to celebrate, anyway. ✨

They shot our wedding and we couldn't be happier with how it all came out! My favorite thing about all of the pictures is that they somehow managed to get soooo many adorable candid shots throughout the whole day - and I didn't even remember them snapping those photos! Their style of photography is truly breathtaking. Erica & Amanda are truly such creative, talented, and all around wonderful humans! They say that picking a wedding photographer is the most important vendor for your big day - since you'll be spending so much time around them. I knew immediately from our engagement shoot with Erica that she was the one to capture our moment. Erica & Amanda are really such pros, too - they were so quick to direct everyone to pose in the most easy-to-understand ways to get SO many pictures in such a short period of time. My husband and I are super awkward people - but you wouldn't know it from these pictures, we truly look like we belong in a magazine haha wtf!!!! AMAZING!!! They also got us our preveiws during the busy fall season in just a few days - and there were SOOOO MANY of them! Our wedding party was shocked at how good and how many there were, saying "these are only the previews?!" I can't even imagine how great the full album is going to be if this is just a taste of it!! And lastly, they are just great human beings through and through. Both Erica & Amanda radiate such positive and warm energy - that everyone felt comfortable around them. They're the kind of people that you feel like you've known for way longer than you do. I usually get really nervous around cameras, but they are seriously so calm and kind that you end up just laughing and smiling the whole time. I really love being able to support and give my money to people who I respect so much. If you're lucky to get on their books (because they book up fast!) I promise you won't regret it! -Lauren & Mike

Pioneer Media was a wonderful choice for our wedding videography. From the very beginning, their communication was professional and kind. Lynette, was especially skilled at organizing our family photos - she remained calm and collected, able to wrangle everyone without breaking a sweat or getting frustrated. The entire Pioneer Media team was dedicated and focused, capturing all the special moments of our day with care. The final images and photo booth prints were great. We are so grateful to have chosen Pioneer Media to document our special day.

I am a certified wedding and event planner, I've been working in the wedding industry for over a decade. I started off as an event planners assistant and soon found myself working for various venues. I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology where I began building the foundation for my company. In 2013 I officially launched my wedding and event planning business in Sullivan County, NY. While I have planned dozens of weddings you can expect the upmost professionalism and confidence. My passion and attention to detail for this industry does not go unnoticed. I don’t think I could say enough good things about Kayce. She is so attentive with her work. She knows everything you need to make your day perfect, and she has it on hand through her inventory so you don’t have to do all the extra work! When things went a little crazy on my wedding day (I’m talking outdoor flooding, pop up tents blowing away, and a last minute ceremony location change), she handled everything with ease and grace! She was able to locate a shop vac to remove water, locate an additional tent set up, and coordinate everyone who was helping out to make my day happen! Things were absolutely perfect with Kayce in charge. I genuinely do not know what I would have done without her! 1000000% worth it to put your faith in her to make your day magical!

Our focus is on real moments, beautiful light, and photos that feel like you. Whether you’re planning a cozy backyard wedding or an adventurous elopement in the mountains, we’ll capture it with care and creativity.

We couldn’t have been happier with the quality of Megan and Kenneth’s work. From the engagement shoot through the wedding, they made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. They’re great at taking direction if you have requests but are also assertive and creative in setting up poses and backdrops. Having two photographers resulted in TONS of shots and adequate getting ready time with both bride and groom. They’re also the nicest people and delivered the photos promptly. Our friends and family were floored by how beautiful our photos are. Definitely recommend!

We had the most amazing time at Diamond Mills Hotel! The venue is BEAUTIFUL, and the staff is wonderful to work with. My husband and I also loved exploring Saugerties! Planning a wedding in two months was challenging, but booking Diamond Mills for our wedding venue was the best decision ever! We loved working with Stephanie, Carrie, and Brianne. They are highly organized and professional. Our wedding day was truly magical! Our guests had a wonderful time! We also really appreciate how the staff working on the day of our wedding ensured that my husband and I ate well (and remembered to eat as we interacted with our guests). The food served was delicious and we loved our wedding cake! Another great thing about booking the wedding at Diamond Mills is that the hotel is attached to the wedding venue - it was very convenient for us and our guests! We received a good discount for our hotel block. The wedding package they offer at Diamond Mills Hotel is truly well-rounded! Beautiful venue with indoor and outdoor spaces, catering, open bar, wedding cake, and supportive and amazing staff to help you plan your wedding and ensure that everything runs smoothly during the day of the wedding all for a reasonable price! I used some rental decorations, and the staff made sure to carefully pack everything at the end of the night, so shipping and packing up the following day was easy! We highly recommend Diamond Mills!

We have nothing but positive things to say about our wedding at the Lippincott! Owners Marty and Tricia are a wonderful couple who are so easy to work with. It is clear that they do this because they are genuinely passionate about it and enjoy it. They were very attentive and clear about everything which made the planning a breeze and put us both at ease. Any requests or questions we had were met and answered with no problems. They run this venue like a well oiled machine. The day went so smoothly, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Tricia made sure we ate and were enjoying ourselves throughout the whole day. Many of our guests said it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to. Not only did they compliment the food, but our guests really loved the venue. The Lippincott is so beautifully decorated and the grounds are gorgeous. We really only had to provide our floral centerpieces and whatever extra decorations we wanted. They provided the tablecloths, runners, napkins, and lots of decorations. Best of all this venue is so affordable. The all inclusive packages were a great option and saved us so much time in looking for vendors. You cannot beat the value and price of this venue. If you are looking for a low stress and affordable venue, consider the Lippincott Manor!

We were so lucky to have found Kathryn for our wedding. As a photographer, Kathryn is an artist. She has incredible talent, creative ideas, and delivers stunning results. As a person, Kathryn is simply a joy. She is warm, easygoing, and fun. She made the process so easy from start to finish and we actually miss getting to chat with her! We are a same-sex, interfaith couple, and came to the table with family drama, a crazy dog, and a mashing of cultures. Kathryn didn't bat an eyelash. She has a true inclusive spirit, and that continues to mean a lot to us. If you want to be able to relive your special day with profound joy for years to come, just choose Kathryn!
