One thing they love about playing music for weddings is the variety that is required of them. Every gig is different and they all happen on one of the happiest days of the clients' lives!

“If you are currently wedding planning and debating between the elegance of live musicians or the versatility of a DJ, stop looking and hire Justin and Skylark Music immediately. Working with Justin was hands down one of the best decisions we made for our big day. With Skylark, we effectively "had our cake and ate it too." We were initially torn because we wanted the romantic atmosphere of live instruments, but we also wanted a high-energy party with our specific favorite songs (which a band is often limited by). Plus, full bands are insanely expensive. Justin offered the perfect hybrid solution. We were able to have a stunning guitar, violin, and cello trio for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and then transition to Justin DJing the reception. It was the best of both worlds—we saved on the cost of a 10-piece band but sacrificed absolutely nothing in terms of quality or vibe. Beyond the music itself, Justin’s professionalism is unmatched. He walked us through every step of the planning process. But the true test of a vendor is how they handle stress. A couple of months before our wedding, our venue suddenly updated their outdoor music guidelines. We were in a total panic, thinking our ceremony plans were ruined. We let Justin know, and he responded immediately with a calm, "can-do" attitude. He adjusted the instrumentation to meet the new rules quickly and sorted it out without us having to lift a finger. He also went above and beyond to personalize the evening. We have a close friend who is a singer, and we wanted her to perform a couple of songs during the reception. Justin didn't hesitate; he coordinated directly with her to ensure the audio levels were perfect and the logistics were seamless. It ended up being such a special moment, and Justin made it happen effortlessly. And then, there was the party. Justin transitioned to MC/DJ duties and read the crowd perfectly. Because we chose the DJ route for the reception, we got to hear the original versions of all our favorite tracks. The dance floor was absolutely wild all night long. The energy was so high that at one point, while we were taking portraits outside, our photographer actually stopped and told us, “There is literally a rave going on inside.” From the elegant strings and the special guest performance to the absolute rager at the end, Justin executed everything perfectly. Heather was also very open to our DIY ideas, and happily worked with us to incorporate our handmade items (table numbers, signage, etc). Our Hindu ceremony required a large platform and mandap, and Heather was the only vendor we could find in the Catskills who was able to provide one. “The Music Boutique was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. From the very beginning, Scott was extremely helpful and responsive, and always providing us with great ideas, suggestions, and guidance to make our day special. We had a duo playing for our ceremony and during the cocktail hour and then we had a small 3 person band playing for our reception. And it was the perfect amount of people. We had spoken to some other bands and they all kept saying we need some big band for the reception, but since we were having less than 100 people at the wedding, we didn’t think it made sense to have like a 10 person band, it just seemed like it would overwhelm the whole wedding. And we knew we wanted a band component since my father plays guitar and I had a feeling would want to play a song at some point. Then we spoke with Scott, he seemed to understand our vision of having a small band. He loved the idea of my father playing a song, and made suggestions on when was the perfect time for him to play, and even laughed along with our idea of playing “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire, over and over again, since we were getting married on “the 21st night of September” (we did not do this)! The day of the band was amazing! They even took the time to learn our first dance song, which was a fairly unknown track, and played it beautifully, and surprised us with playing it. Since we thought it was just going to be a recorded version of the song. That was very special to us! And they were more than happy to let my dad play his song to us. Overall, the band's performance was lively and engaging, and they kept our guests dancing all night long. We couldn't have asked for a better band to help make our wedding celebration so memorable, and couldn’t have done it with Scott!”

“If anyone were to ask me what my favorite part of my wedding was I’d have to say “Black Walnut Farm!” What a remarkable experience it has been to work with Sarah, Jim, Lish, Lindsey, and of course, Miss Lilly! My partner and I didn’t even bother viewing another venue because we could instantly feel how special the BWF property was — we called 30 minutes after our tour and said we were ready for the contract and deposit. Even still Black Walnut Farm far exceeded our expectations! Everything about this venue is so thoughtfully curated and managed. There is just so much care and consideration that has gone into every inch of this very special place! My partner and I decided to have a “honeymoon” week during the week of the wedding; we chose to have the extended package where we stayed on the property just the two of us. Unwinding in front of the fireplace while playing chess and drinking wine was such a lovely way to relax the night before. The sunroom is the perfect place for getting ready the morning of the wedding! After our wedding (in lieu of an after party) we just asked to have the hot tub ready for us, which was the best move ever! Most importantly, the BWF team were so kind and patient, cool and collected. In the face of some extreme family drama and chaotic spring weather they always rolled with the punches. I felt that I could trust them fully and always felt safe and cared for. I was not afraid to defer to their expertise in the midst of the chaos, and I do not regret any of those decisions! In fact, the backup rain plan ended up being better than the original plan! Thank you again, Black Walnut Farm. You have created something so very, very special and we will be eternally grateful!”

“Deliece & Melissa were integral to the success of our beautiful wedding, and life savers in their day-of coordination of the event. I selected a ten week package where my fiancée and I selected our vendors and personalized the event to our tastes, but in the two and a half months leading up to the big day they dove in head first to get a handle on every detail and help us polish off any items on our to do list that we were struggling with. After hours of meetings to extract information that had been swirling around in my brain for a year, we were provided with a minute by minute timeline of the day, along with an entire decision making workbook that lead us through ceremony choices, first dance planning and a comprehensive item inventory to make sure no detail was left behind. They provided a budgeting workbook that made my little accountant heart flutter, and offered guidance based on years of practical experience working events and seeing how guests congregate and react to specific elements. Once their package kicked in I was able to pass off tasks that were stressing me out and know that they were being handled completely. Their additional day-of team member, Antonia, shadowed me (the bride) for most of the day and acted like a fairy godmother—handing me an already opened bottle of water or much needed electric fan, provided hair pins out of thin air, tackling my complicated bustle, and generally being warm, pleasant, and comforting in moments of anxiety. She melted into the background when I was on, and offered a protective enclave to sink back into when I needed a minute. The Dhalia team was flawless in their execution of the plan, and tactful in their handling of complex family relationships and herding of guests. Their pricing was clear and uncomplicated, and they were happy to answer straightforward questions with concise answers and no awkwardness or pressure to spend more than planned. We’re still floating on cloud nine, and much of that joy is thanks to Erica of Clean Plate Pictures, whose vision and presence put me at ease (especially as someone more used to being behind the camera). Her team captured every precious moment so effortlessly—it all felt natural, never forced. We just got our teaser photos back, and if those are just the previews, we can only imagine how breathtaking the full gallery will be. And let’s talk about the food. As a group of serious foodies, our guests were thrilled—and still talking—about the menu crafted by the extraordinary Juan Romero. We opted for the upgraded, customized selections, and wow… Chimichurri steak, Mediterranean lamb meatballs, tacos al pastor, smashies and more. Every bite was next-level delicious. We also highly recommend upgrading to include the flower bar—such a creative, memorable way to send your guests home with something special—and booking the extra hour on the farm. Also: don’t sleep on the silent disco package! It was the ultimate grand finale. Most of our guests had never experienced one before, and it turned out to be a massive hit. We knew we needed a coordinator for the day of, but Justine met with us about once a month for almost a full year leading up to the wedding. She made sure we were staying on track with all the to-dos and even provided a checklist for us to work through. The week of the wedding she was on top of everything. All of our other vendors sang her praises and we can confirm, working with Justine made our whole wedding day so much smoother. She also came to our rehearsal which was a huge help, not only because it was great that she knew how everything at the church should go on the day of, but also because I had a wardrobe malfunction and she was there to help my matron of honor sew me into my rehearsal dinner dress. To top it all off, when we were going through the cards from our wedding night, we found the sweetest card from Justine, which was such a beautifully kind gesture. He met with us multiple times prior to the event to go over music selection, flow of the ceremony day etc. His website was very easy to use and allowed us to have a large role in our music selection for the day, even for the reception dance portion. Everything was reviewed at least 3 times to ensure there were no hiccups, and also to make sure we wouldn't have to worry about anything on the ceremony day. On the day, Lou came in very early to setup and his equipment was extremely unobtrusive and sounded amazing. From the ceremony to reception (and especially cocktail hour), the sound was fantastic and there was not a single hiccup (even with an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour!). His flow through the reception was so smooth - and as a former college radio DJ, his music choice to fill in the gaps between the 'must plays' we sent him were impeccable!!! They were very encouraging to my husband and I throughout the day, and very helpful with anything we needed. They also were very helpful before the wedding day. Lynette helped me figure out timing for the day, and that truly helped it run smoothly and on time. They gave us a large “sneak peak” within two weeks of the wedding, and then had the entire wedding album back around 3 months. The videos came back about a month and a half after the wedding. “We love working at Full Moon Resort, Its such a beautiful venue! They have the perfect wooded ceremony spot, but also has open fields to use or in case of bad weather you can get married in the barn or the ceremony tent, they also use the barn throughout their weekend weddings for Rehearsal Dinners, breakfast & lunch. & then you have the pavilion which is a beautiful open and airy room that is meant for the reception (its nice that although your guests are there for the weekend you get to save this space for the main event instead of having to repeat a location) They also have lodging for many, with a pool and the grounds are beautiful. We work with Morgan, Nikki, and Kayla (along with many of the other staff members) and they are all aways great to work with, (they know how to work with as a team with hired vendors like us) which makes it more enjoyable and stress-free for all! We are a florist/decorating company and although we have done some elaborate weddings at full moon, you actually don't need to go crazy on florals and decor as the venue itself is beautiful and surrounded by nature.”
