Known for their expertise in event planning, this property hosts around 100 weddings and corporate events a year. This casual venue attracts guests from Massachusetts & Southern New Hampshire on wedding weekends, and business travelers from Tyco International throughout the week. With a restaurant and catering service onsite, The Colonial Hotel provides unparalleled service & event expertise for their guests. The Colonial Grille, offers a variety of functionality from rehearsal dinners to birthday parties and everything in between. The restaurant provides a local draw from the Gardner, MA area and contributes to the property’s off-season push throughout the months of January – March.

The tent features a full bar set-up and completely covered entrance to the hotel. The fabric ceiling drapings and french window sidewalls will bring elegance to any occasion.

Wonderful Venue & Staff!
The Colonial Hotel was a perfect venue for our wedding Reception. From the moment we reached out, the team there was quick to respond and provided us with detailed information to help us plan our special event. Mary and all the staff we dealt with were very helpful in making our day truly special. The beautiful ballroom with the wood floors made for a night of fun dancing; the ballroom windows, outside stonework of the building and the gazebo made for some stunning photos. We received great comments from our guests on the appetizers and meal. It was a beautiful setting for our wedding celebration and we were very glad to find it.
Mary and Colonial Team - Fantastic!
The Colonial Hotel exceeded our expectations with wedding planning and execution. Mary was wonderful to work with: she explained everything well step by step and was always available to answer our questions same-day. At the actual wedding the staff was efficient, checked in with us often, and truly exceeded our expectations. As the day went on, we knew we could stop stressing about it because The Colonial had it covered. Thank you, Mary and The Colonial Team, for truly making our wedding day even better than we could have ever imagined!!!
A classic venue that goes above and beyond!
We booked the Colonial Hotel for our wedding day in July 2025 and had a great experience working with Mary and her team. They were incredibly proactive, attentive and thoughtful throughout the venue evaluation process, wedding planning months and wedding day. Mary’s timely responses, attention to detail and industry experience made planning feel achievable and stress-free. During the wedding day, the team went above and beyond with many thoughtful gestures such as ensuring the wedding party had refreshments during the formal photoshoot (they wheeled a cart outside to meet us during the shoot), wrapping up the remainder of our wedding cake, and decorating the bridal suite with the floral centerpieces rather than throwing them away (we came back to a beautifully decorated room at the end of the night, and in the morning many of our guests took home a centerpiece). We could all relax and enjoy the wedding day because we fully trusted Mary and her team to take care of the setup, schedule adherence and logistics. The food and drinks were a hit, and the hotel rooms were cozy and comfortable. The bridal suite in particular was spacious, decked out with great amenities and had lots of seating for the bridal party. The rest of the hotel (foyer, cocktail tent, ballroom) provided an incredible backdrop for our wedding - the spaces were absolutely beautiful with all the lighting and decorations. We would highly recommend The Colonial Hotel for future weddings!
Best Day Ever!
We had our wedding at the Colonial Hotel in July, and it was truly the best experience from start to finish! The staff went above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of. The venue itself is absolutely stunning. With the pagoda outside for the ceremony and the amazing outdoor tent for the reception. We had family traveling who got the pleasure of staying at the hotel, as did me and my Husband, and everything was clean and comfortable. Access to the pool and hot tub, and their amazing restaurant and bar. The day of the wedding I was well taken care of, and didn’t have to worry about a single thing, everything was decorated and prepared perfectly, they took my visions and made them come to life! Both me and my husband got many updates on the day of the wedding, making sure we knew where we needed to be and what would be happening next, which helped tremendously! We couldn’t be anymore pleased, and we will forever recommend the Colonial Hotel!
