About Two Birds Photography
Two Birds Photography
Hi, I’m Jake Moreland—the photographer behind Two Birds Photography. I’m also a proud dad to three awesome boys (who I lovingly refer to as my unpaid interns) and a rescue cat who keeps me company—mostly by getting in the way in the best possible way. When I’m not behind the camera, you can usually find me out hiking, camping, painting, digging through vinyl records, or making something with my hands. I’ve always been drawn to the soulful, timeless feel of black and white photography, and that sense of honesty and simplicity is at the heart of everything I shoot.
I started Two Birds Photography in 2008 with a love for storytelling and a desire to capture the real stuff—those unposed, joyful moments that make your wedding day uniquely yours. My style is radiant, natural, and full of life. I’m laid-back, easygoing, and I do my best work when you feel like you can simply be yourselves. I’m based in the western suburbs of Chicago and cover the entire Chicago area, including northwest Indiana—but I’m always up for an adventure and happy to travel. And because I believe love should ripple outward, I make a donation to my favorite animal rescue with every wedding I photograph.

Best photographer ever
From the moment we first spoke with Jake of Two Birds Photography, we knew we had found our perfect wedding photographer. His communication style was responsive, respectful, and he was an excellent listener who truly understood our vision. The quality of his work was exceptional - elegant, beautiful, and perfectly capturing the in-the-moment, unscripted flashes that made our day so special. Jake was exceptional, listening closely to exactly what we wanted and offering up unique and interesting ideas that we loved. Jake captured our wedding day beautifully. He was very easy to work with and took one stress off our plate as we were planning. During the day of, Jake blended into the scene and was not intrusive to the day itself. He made sure that we got every shot that we had asked for. He also called us aside for some photos during the reception at golden hour, which was a special time to escape for a few minutes. Jake delivered the photos within the promised timeframe. And we were delighted with the results. My 2 older siblings have both used Jake as their wedding photographer, and I'm glad I followed in their footsteps! Overall, great quality, kind human, and good value.
