Hello! My name is Chayil (pronounced just like Kyle), and I am a photographer and creative storyteller with a focus on weddings, elopements, and lifestyle portraits. Taking photos since 2016, I lives to document the stories of every lovely human I get to meet. My ideal clients are laugh-loving, sun-chasing, care-freers (bonus points if you're a foodie too). I love the Washington D.C. and Richmond area, but I'll go wherever your story begins.

My focus will always be on you. Your wedding day is not a photo shoot, but a celebration of a lifelong commitment to one another. My wish is to let your love story be at the forefront of our work together. I specialize in all things bright, colorful, and candid. "In the moment" is my specialty, with an emphasis on the real moments of your day. One of my brides told me, "You take pictures the way my brain sees the world," and there is no greater joy for me than documenting such priceless moments.

    I cannot even begin to write a review that expresses how obsessed I am with the photos and service we received from Chayil McGlotten, she truly knocked it out of the park. Chayil’s positive energy and friendly personality brings exactly the tone you need for your day. You could not find a better photographer if you’re looking for true to color, gorgeous photos, showcasing the love and story of the day, all while she also acts as the best hype woman you could ask for. I cannot recommend her and her team at Black Pepper Photography enough. We did our engagement photos at our venue, which ended up being on a fairly dreary day, but Chayil’s amazing skills still managed to highlight the beauty of the location and our excitement. She is incredibly easy to work with, quickly making us comfortable (especially my husband who is not a huge fan of taking pictures) by alternating smoothly between suggesting poses and taking candid photos if we were naturally in a good position. It was so hard to pick just a few photos for our Save the Dates when we received so many, despite having booked just a 30 minute session. On the wedding day, Chayil arrived with amazing energy, helping ease my nerves about the timeline and making sure I got every photo I wanted and then some! She also brought the videographer, who made the most stunning wedding video highlighting our special day. We have received our sneak peaks, and every photo is better than the last, they are all so flattering and gorgeous. Black Pepper Photography documented our day better than I could have ever dared to dream - thank you!!!

    5 stars is not even close to enough!!! Chayil is my new best friend. From the first message, she’s not only been super professional— she’s brought the most amazing energy to every interaction, she thinks of EVERYTHING so you don’t have to, and she really curates the best vibe to produce the most amazing pictures. I cannot overstate how wonderful she is— our entire bridal party adored her and we got so many comments about how on top of it she was. If you’re looking to just relax and turn your brain off for your wedding, and for a seriously bubbly, charming, fun hype woman to bring out the best in you for your wedding album, look no further because Chayil is it! 1000 out of 10

    Chayil is a vibe machine. The day after our wedding, every compliment we received included her. She brought the party and helped us document our wedding expertly. She has an emotional superpower to know what you need to hear, when you need to hear it. Our entire album was vibrant and perfectly captured the mood of the day. We cannot recommend Chayil and BPP enough. We plan on using her for future photo sessions. Anyone thinking of hiring her should do so.
