Jesse and Justin have been playing music together since they met performing in a band at Disneyland in 2001. After moving to Beacon, NY around the same time, it made sense to start an official wedding music business to share their love of music with some of the many happy couples getting married in the Hudson Valley. One thing they love about playing music for weddings is the variety that is required of them. Every gig is different and they all happen on one of the happiest days of the clients' lives!

“If you are currently wedding planning and debating between the elegance of live musicians or the versatility of a DJ, stop looking and hire Justin and Skylark Music immediately. Working with Justin was hands down one of the best decisions we made for our big day. With Skylark, we effectively "had our cake and ate it too." We were initially torn because we wanted the romantic atmosphere of live instruments, but we also wanted a high-energy party with our specific favorite songs (which a band is often limited by). Plus, full bands are insanely expensive. Justin offered the perfect hybrid solution. We were able to have a stunning guitar, violin, and cello trio for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and then transition to Justin DJing the reception. It was the best of both worlds—we saved on the cost of a 10-piece band but sacrificed absolutely nothing in terms of quality or vibe. Beyond the music itself, Justin’s professionalism is unmatched. He walked us through every step of the planning process. But the true test of a vendor is how they handle stress. A couple of months before our wedding, our venue suddenly updated their outdoor music guidelines. We were in a total panic, thinking our ceremony plans were ruined. We let Justin know, and he responded immediately with a calm, "can-do" attitude. He adjusted the instrumentation to meet the new rules quickly and sorted it out without us having to lift a finger. He also went above and beyond to personalize the evening. We have a close friend who is a singer, and we wanted her to perform a couple of songs during the reception. Justin didn't hesitate; he coordinated directly with her to ensure the audio levels were perfect and the logistics were seamless. It ended up being such a special moment, and Justin made it happen effortlessly. And then, there was the party. Justin transitioned to MC/DJ duties and read the crowd perfectly. Because we chose the DJ route for the reception, we got to hear the original versions of all our favorite tracks. The dance floor was absolutely wild all night long. The energy was so high that at one point, while we were taking portraits outside, our photographer actually stopped and told us, “There is literally a rave going on inside.” From the elegant strings and the special guest performance to the absolute rager at the end, Justin executed everything perfectly. “Heather and Jay were incredible to work with. I truly cannot thank them enough. Heather did full decor for my whole wedding weekend. I had an Indian wedding so there were TONS of design needs (frankly more than I thought), and Heather accommodated every request and was so helpful through all the planning. We would have check-in phone calls, and she would walk us through spreadsheets with every tiny decor detail recorded. She was also very helpful with planning and was upfront about everything, gave us options to work through any budgeting/feasibility concerns, and helped with a lot of that wedding decision fatigue. Her husband Jay was instrumental in some of the more elaborate things we asked for, like balconies draped in greenery and a mandap stage. They did two site visits with us for our peace of mind so we could get every detail hammered out. Heather also made lots of great suggestions when I was out of my depth and coordinated with our venue. On the weekend of, I saw her once or twice but otherwise just trusted her absolutely to execute. And the actual decor! It was BEAUTIFUL. She turned our reception hall and outdoor wedding tent into a lush, colourful flower wonderland. We had a rustic barn onsite, and she draped the roof with poms and disco balls. She also used bright colours and dried flowers to brighten the indoors. Her husband Jay custom built us wooden pools for a Hindi haldi ceremony. Our wedding mandap was covered in beautiful roses, and it was magical to get married under. Each space felt distinct and memorable but all beautiful crafted. I could tell a lot of love and thought went into every part. Do not hesitate to book with Cullen Creations. You are in incredible hands. As a bride, I worried and hoped that my vendors would treat my special day which as much care as I was putting in. With Heather, I never had a doubt. She made all my needs feel heard and ultimately made magic happen.”

“The Music Boutique was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. From the very beginning, Scott was extremely helpful and responsive, and always providing us with great ideas, suggestions, and guidance to make our day special. We had a duo playing for our ceremony and during the cocktail hour and then we had a small 3 person band playing for our reception. And it was the perfect amount of people. We had spoken to some other bands and they all kept saying we need some big band for the reception, but since we were having less than 100 people at the wedding, we didn’t think it made sense to have like a 10 person band, it just seemed like it would overwhelm the whole wedding. And we knew we wanted a band component since my father plays guitar and I had a feeling would want to play a song at some point. Then we spoke with Scott, he seemed to understand our vision of having a small band. He loved the idea of my father playing a song, and made suggestions on when was the perfect time for him to play, and even laughed along with our idea of playing “September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire, over and over again, since we were getting married on “the 21st night of September” (we did not do this)! The day of the band was amazing! They even took the time to learn our first dance song, which was a fairly unknown track, and played it beautifully, and surprised us with playing it. Since we thought it was just going to be a recorded version of the song. That was very special to us! And they were more than happy to let my dad play his song to us. Overall, the band's performance was lively and engaging, and they kept our guests dancing all night long. We couldn't have asked for a better band to help make our wedding celebration so memorable, and couldn’t have done it with Scott!”

“If anyone were to ask me what my favorite part of my wedding was I’d have to say “Black Walnut Farm!” What a remarkable experience it has been to work with Sarah, Jim, Lish, Lindsey, and of course, Miss Lilly! My partner and I didn’t even bother viewing another venue because we could instantly feel how special the BWF property was — we called 30 minutes after our tour and said we were ready for the contract and deposit. Even still Black Walnut Farm far exceeded our expectations! Everything about this venue is so thoughtfully curated and managed. There is just so much care and consideration that has gone into every inch of this very special place! My partner and I decided to have a “honeymoon” week during the week of the wedding; we chose to have the extended package where we stayed on the property just the two of us. Unwinding in front of the fireplace while playing chess and drinking wine was such a lovely way to relax the night before. The sunroom is the perfect place for getting ready the morning of the wedding! After our wedding (in lieu of an after party) we just asked to have the hot tub ready for us, which was the best move ever! Most importantly, the BWF team were so kind and patient, cool and collected. In the face of some extreme family drama and chaotic spring weather they always rolled with the punches. I felt that I could trust them fully and always felt safe and cared for. I was not afraid to defer to their expertise in the midst of the chaos, and I do not regret any of those decisions! In fact, the backup rain plan ended up being better than the original plan! Thank you again, Black Walnut Farm. You have created something so very, very special and we will be eternally grateful!”

“We had the most amazing time at Diamond Mills Hotel! The venue is BEAUTIFUL, and the staff is wonderful to work with. My husband and I also loved exploring Saugerties! Planning a wedding in two months was challenging, but booking Diamond Mills for our wedding venue was the best decision ever! We loved working with Stephanie, Carrie, and Brianne. They are highly organized and professional. Our wedding day was truly magical! Our guests had a wonderful time! We also really appreciate how the staff working on the day of our wedding ensured that my husband and I ate well (and remembered to eat as we interacted with our guests). The food served was delicious and we loved our wedding cake! Another great thing about booking the wedding at Diamond Mills is that the hotel is attached to the wedding venue - it was very convenient for us and our guests! We received a good discount for our hotel block. The wedding package they offer at Diamond Mills Hotel is truly well-rounded! Beautiful venue with indoor and outdoor spaces, catering, open bar, wedding cake, and supportive and amazing staff to help you plan your wedding and ensure that everything runs smoothly during the day of the wedding all for a reasonable price! “We have nothing but positive things to say about our wedding at the Lippincott! Owners Marty and Tricia are a wonderful couple who are so easy to work with. It is clear that they do this because they are genuinely passionate about it and enjoy it. They were very attentive and clear about everything which made the planning a breeze and put us both at ease. Any requests or questions we had were met and answered with no problems. They run this venue like a well oiled machine. The day went so smoothly, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Tricia made sure we ate and were enjoying ourselves throughout the whole day. Many of our guests said it was one of the best weddings they have ever been to. Not only did they compliment the food, but our guests really loved the venue. The Lippincott is so beautifully decorated and the grounds are gorgeous. We really only had to provide our floral centerpieces and whatever extra decorations we wanted. They provided the tablecloths, runners, napkins, and lots of decorations. Best of all this venue is so affordable. The all inclusive packages were a great option and saved us so much time in looking for vendors. You cannot beat the value and price of this venue.
