Salted Roots

5.0

Seward, AK
  • Up to 50 guests
  • Raw space
  • Outdoor

Your hosts, Matt and KellyAnn, here! We met in San Diego and have always been drawn to saltwater. We left in the exploration of more things wild: mountains to climb, waters to kayak, trails to run, perspectives to encounter. We spent 3 years on the road, living out of our car and exploring North America’s public lands and communities, stumbling upon spaces, places, and people who inspired us and ultimately sharpened the pencil that created Salted Roots. Seward won our hearts, with mountains, the ocean, and a national park right in our backyard. Alaska is wild - wild enough for us vagabonds to settle down roots… and then naturally the idea for Salted Roots sprouted. We bought the land in 2017, were married there shortly after, and began throwing together our future plans for the project with close friends. Our community helped us clear the land, build our website and make our vision a reality.

Why you'll love this venue

Awarded Best of Zola
Salted & Rustic Roots was the perfect container for our friends & family to gather from far and wide. Being there together for the 3 days felt like being at a camp. The property as it is feels magical. Our out-of-state guests were amazed by the space and setting. It is definitely a DIY venue, so more work for the bride & helpers. But this allowed us to create something that was totally us, versus forcing us to fit within someone else's idea for a wedding if we went with a plug-and-play venue.

Millers Landing was the perfect venue for our wedding! From the first time we visited, the team was incredibly prompt, easy, and flexible in accommodating our needs. The natural beauty of the space, where the mountains meet the ocean, provided the most stunning backdrop for our special day. Tom even took us across the bay on his boat to do our vows and let us kayak - it was so special and unique! The open space and ability to tailor the party to our dreams was unmatched. We continue to hear feedback, years later, that this was the most epic wedding people have ever been to. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Tom and his team made us feel at home. A huge perk is so much lodging available in that area and camping so guests didn’t have to drive and could really let loose!
