About this venue

Founded in 1896, the Peabody Historical Society & Museum is a center for the preservation, study and enjoyment of Peabody’s cultural heritage. The Society’s collections are of local and national significance and document over 300 years of the region’s history. The Society maintains eight historic properties, an extensive library and archives, and a large collection of china, textiles, furniture and fine and decorative arts.

The meticulously restored Smith Barn features charming country ambience and modern amenities. Dine and dance in the spacious main room, which comfortably accommodates groups of up to 240 people. The Smith Barn has air-conditioning and heat.

Situated on a picturesque hilltop...

The Peabody Historical Society’s Woodland Gardens, located behind the historic Nathaniel Felton Junior House (directly across the street from the Smith Barn), is an idyllic setting for your wedding ceremony. The tranquil beauty of the Woodland Gardens is evident year-round, from the perennial blooms in the spring and summer to the rich hues of the foliage in the fall.

Smith Barn was the perfect venue to host our wedding. The garden was a truly magical space for our ceremony and the barn was spacious but warm and inviting. The grounds and orchards were a perfect setting for pictures as well! Tammy and her team took care of everything and really took the stress out of planning. She's clearly got a lot of experience hosting events and was able to keep everyone in check and account for every detail.

Tammy and the entire team at The Smith Barn are wonderful. Tammy is available day and night and answered any questions we had leading up to the event. On the day of, they anticipated all of our needs and checked in with us throughout the day (truly guiding us) to make sure the day flowed effortlessly and the way WE wanted. Tammy’s awareness and experience of our timeline, and vendors was impeccable ensuring that everyone was aligned and taken care of. We couldn’t be happier with how everything went and are so glad we chose this historical site for our venue. Thank you Tammy and Smith Barn for an unforgettable day!!!!!

The Smith Barn at Brooksby Farm was the perfect venue for our wedding. From the moment we first reached out, the team was incredibly responsive and personable. We were able to visit the barn multiple times before our big day to ensure everything was just right, and were blown away by the beautiful, rustic, and charming space. On the day of the wedding, Tammy was excellent in making sure everything went seamlessly - we were even able to have a signature cocktail that our guests raved about. Our friends and family loved the two-story layout of the barn, which created a really unique and memorable atmosphere. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue for our special day. Highly recommend the Smith Barn at Brooksby Farm!

The Smith Barn venue itself is warm, rustic, comfortable, and beautiful as is. You barely need to add anything because it is such an amazing space. From start to finish Tammy and her crew know how to run and execute a flawless wedding. Tammy herself is supportive, direct, and caring. She knows what's best for her couples, even if that means running interference with other family members. Tammy kept the chaos organized and celebrated the happiness with us. She made it so that we did not have to keep track of time too closely. After having Tammy as the head contact and day of coordinator, regrets are nonexistent. Well done The Smith Barn and Tammy!!
