Review on Coordination Services
Although we were very pleased with the videography, we were extremely disappointed with the coordination services, which caused significant frustration and avoidable stress before and during the wedding. We booked the month-of coordination package with Whitney as our lead coordinator. At first, the process felt promising with thorough communication, organization, and expertise. However, as the wedding approached, unexpected changes, missed follow-through, and dismissive responses to feedback revealed serious issues in professionalism and reliability. Just two days before the wedding, Whitney informed us she would leave immediately after the ceremony to pick up her children, leaving the reception entirely in the hands of her two assistants — individuals we had never met or spoken with before. Although Whitney reassured us everything would run smoothly, receiving this news so late felt unsettling. With so much happening, we chose to trust her word. On the wedding day, coordination broke down in several areas. Key vendors told us they had received little to no outreach from the coordination team in the week leading up to or even on the wedding day, leaving venue staff to step in. Whitney and her team also arrived nearly an hour late to decorate the ceremony space without notifying me, my maid of honor, or the venue contact. As a result, my bridesmaids and family scrambled to set up décor just minutes before first looks and other special moments. During the reception, the assistants were largely disengaged and absent. My dad had to step in after noticing the assistants were following a timeline different from the one I had finalized and approved with Whitney. This caused the evening to fall nearly an hour behind schedule, primarily due to a lack of coordination with key vendors like the DJ. In a follow-up call, Whitney acknowledged the assistants’ lack of involvement at the reception, which was appreciative. However, when I raised other concerns, there was little accountability. Initially, Whitney had explained she left the wedding early to pick up her children, but during the call, she stated she had actually felt “burned out” and implied my responses to her planning notes suggested my family would handle most tasks. This was inaccurate and unfair, as I consistently clarified throughout the process that I wanted to avoid burdening my family or guests with duties. I had also proactively asked multiple times if certain décor ideas were realistic within our package, yet Whitney never advised scaling back or reassessing expectations. To imply my communication contributed to her burnout was disappointing. When I mentioned the late ceremony setup, she became defensive and questioned why we were upset since the decorations were finished before the ceremony began. I explained that setup continued as guests were arriving and was largely completed because my family stepped in. There was never a clear explanation for the delay or why no one informed us. Despite these challenges, our wedding was beautiful thanks to the love and support of our family, bridal party, and vendors who stepped up where coordination fell short. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share our experience for future couples to make informed decisions. The coordination service ultimately lacked proactive execution and reliability, particularly during the most critical moments of the wedding day.
Great and exciting experience.
Working with Whitney and Emerald Cut Events was an absolute pleasure! As the DJ for Rachel and Dakota's wedding, I found Whitney to be exceptionally easy to work with. Her attention to detail, effective communication, and collaborative approach made the planning process seamless. Her meticulous planning and clear communication ensured that the wedding day ran smoothly. As a DJ, having a coordinator like Whitney makes a significant difference in the overall success of an event. The coordination between Emerald Cut Events and our staff prior to the event as well as with myself was seamless, allowing for a flawless execution of the music and overall ambiance. I highly recommend their services to anyone seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, and communicative event coordinator for their special day!
