Q: How many years have you been DJing weddings?

We have collectively over 30 years of experience DJing weddings. We are honored to have been included in hundreds of weddings across Chicago, Detroit, Milwaukee and in between!

Q: What kind of equipment do you use?

We use the industry standard DJing program, Serato to mix and beatmatch the songs together, as well as top of the line speakers (QSC and or JBL) to ensure your sound is amazing for both music and toasts. We have wireless mics and corded mics as backups. and we use a Pioneer portable controller system for mixing and sound.

Q: Can you do our ceremony music and sound as well?

Sure! We can absolutely handle your ceremony songs and mic your officiant. This is all included in your rate, so we can do these for no additional charge. Keep in mind if your ceremony is outdoors, we will need proximity to a power outlet, and coverage if it rains or looks like rain. Our equipment does not work if it gets wet!

Q: Do you do lighting?

Nope! We want to focus on what we do best, which is providing a smooth running event and getting your dance floor grooving and shaking! We are not lighting experts - therefor we think its best to leave lighting up to lighting experts. If you want, we are happy to recommend some fabulous lighting companies for you!

We booked Groove is in the heart & DJ Clare for our wedding. We had a wide range of music tastes and weren’t sure how it would all come together but Clare handled it effortlessly. She read the room, kept the energy going, and made sure every moment had the perfect soundtrack. From the pre-ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, to the dance floor, everything flowed beautifully. We didn’t have to worry about a thing Clare had it all under control and kept the party going. She covered everything from oldies and Suavemente to Blink-182 and somehow made it all feel cohesive and fun. One moment that really stood out was when we asked to include a specific meaningful slow song that was used as the first dance at my husband’s brother’s wedding. Clare was completely receptive and even offered to call them out before playing it, turning it into a sweet and memorable moment for everyone. Thank you Clare!!!

We are so happy to have worked with Groove is in the Heart, Our DJ Jessi was great! We had some video calls with Jessi to get to know each other better and work through our music vibes and tastes. The process through Groove is in the Heart was clear and seamless. Jessi helped the night run smoothly and had a clear list of songs we needed to choose to curate our night's most important moments. She had lots of knowledge and feedback to help with our selection choices, she knew the venue and set up quickly. She kept our guests dancing all night long and made it a great party! She was flexible and fun to work with, we highly recommend Jessi and Groove is in the Heart!

Groove Is In The Heart DJs were an absolute delight to work with for our wedding! From our first interaction, they were prompt, kind, and excited to help make our day special. Their communication was top-notch, and they worked diligently to understand our music preferences and vision. On the day of, their work was truly amazing - the timing of the music was great, and they executed incredible transitions that kept the dance floor going. Evan had to compete with a rooftop terrace on a beautiful night and people loved the music! We received so many compliments from our guests on how fun the music was. Groove Is In The Heart DJs provided incredible value and we couldn't recommend them more highly!

All I can say is the clue is in the name. If you know, you know. Evan & Anna were an utter joy to work with. Evan DJ’d our wedding on July 7 and he just knocked it out of the park. We dumped at 12 hour playlist on him, told him the vibes we wanted at each phase (e.g. cocktail, dinner, after party) and he did the rest. Absolutely nailed it. Played the perfect song at every moment and made our night so special. We love our music so this honestly the highest compliment we can pay. We’ve been to 25 weddings as guests and wish Evan could have DJ’d them all. Groove is well, and truly, in the heart!
