About this venue
Nestled in the heart of Cleveland’s Larchmere district, Batuqui is a celebration of Brazil’s rich culinary traditions, culture, and hospitality. Founded in May 2015 by Chef Carla Batista (from Minas Gerais) and Gustavo Nogueira (from Bahia), the restaurant brings together the vibrant flavors of their home states in an intimate, inviting setting.

Although its walls are new, Batuqui’s heart remains the same: a deep commitment to Brazilian culinary heritage.
Originally housed in a restored Victorian home with seating for about 38, Batuqui's reputation for authenticity, passion, and attention to detail quickly made it a local gem. In 2025, the restaurant embarked on a bold new chapter — relocating just down the block to the former St. Paul’s Evangelical Church, a 1922 Craftsman‑style space with soaring ceilings, stained glass windows, and a dramatically expanded footprint.
