Terrence Irving Photography
Black Connecticut wedding photographer, purveyor of the artistically-engineered photography experience. That's a crafty way of saying, I'm a computer nerd who's pretty good at photography and believes in great service! Digital image gallery, print rights, and beautiful, physical prints included with every package. My work focuses on telling my couples’ wedding day love stories through the pictures I capture. Artwork is the goal, whether it’s a highly-stylized posed photo or a moment where a loved one is emoting.
Your wedding should be enjoyable. That’s from having fun with your attendants while getting ready, to looking into the eyes of your partner during the ceremony, too dancing the night away. My feeling is, capturing those moments artistically as they unfold is truly…an art. I always joke that I pretend that I’m a ninja on wedding days. Couple’s portraits are important, too! I truly love these moments and approaching them by giving you promoted direction. One of my goals is to make sure that the photos I provide are aesthetically pleasing and will stand the test of time. Another one is to make things easy.

Fall Foliage, Gillette Castle, Perfect Photos
From the very first interaction, Terrence took on more than the role of a photographer. With years of experience, Terrence offers attention to detail to curate lasting moments. Throughout working together, Terrence reached out more than any other vendor to get to know us as a couple, and to provide suggestions that assisted with our planning. He was detailed, prompt, organized, results-oriented, and flexible. Terrence created a comfortable environment that allowed us to forget a camera was there, while maintaining direction to capture gorgeous photos. On both our engagement shoot and wedding day's Terrence was game for anything, and flexible to any last minute changes or additions. I had met Terrence as a bridesmaid in a friends wedding and took notice how calm he was on what can be a hectic day. I kept him in mind knowing that approach allows for privacy in one of the most intimate moments of life, while still getting amazing memories on film. My husband and I could not be any happier with choosing Terrence to be a part of our day. Photos are what you walk away with, and my husband and I could not be happier with our photo memories. I will be singing Terrence Irving's praises to anyone who will listen!

Working with Terrence was easily one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Not only is he extremely talented, our photos are stunning and we’ll treasure them forever, but he was also an incredible resource and support system throughout the entire wedding process. From the very beginning, Terrence went above and beyond the role of a photographer. He helped us think through key logistics, such as lighting (including the colors and where uplighting would make a difference), and even assisted us in drafting our day-of timeline. He was a trusted sounding board and a calming presence, offering insights that made our day run smoothly. I truly felt like he was in our corner, not just on the wedding day but in the months leading up to it. Neither my husband nor I are naturally comfortable in front of a camera, but Terrence instantly made us feel at ease during our engagement shoot (which was included in the package - something we initially weren’t sure we needed but are now so glad we did). That shoot turned out to be a turning point. By the end of the day, it felt like we were hanging out with a friend. That connection carried beautifully into the wedding day and made all the difference. Terrence was wonderfully communicative from start to finish, and impressively quick to deliver photos for both the engagement shoot and wedding day. The morning of the wedding, just seeing him brought me a sense of calm. I knew if anything went sideways, I could count on him (thankfully, nothing did!). Our wedding party and guests looked amazing in the photos. We had a challenging venue with very low light (Society Room of Hartford), and it was really important to me that both my husband and I (with different skin tones) were captured beautifully, and we were. Every shot looks natural and perfectly lit. Terrence had also worked at our venue before, which is one of the reasons we chose him. He understood the space, the challenges, and how to make the most of every corner. On a personal note, my brother uses a wheelchair, and it can be challenging to get group photos where he isn’t unintentionally sidelined. Terrence posed all of us so thoughtfully, and I really love the way they came out. In short, Terrence is a dream to work with. He's talented, thoughtful, communicative, and just an all-around wonderful human. Any couple would be lucky to have him as part of their wedding day!

Terrence was absolutely amazing as our photographer for our wedding in October 2024! When we began the search, it was important for us to have a photographer that can photograph a biracial couple. We wanted both of our skin tones to photograph well and not be muted or overpowered. Terrence was the answer to all over needs! We began with an engagement session to which he coached and guided us through the process. Allowing us to bring our (2) fur babies and having fun throughout the process. I was a Type A bride and I appreciated Terrence's attention to detail throughout the planning process, leading up to the day. Keeping in constant communication, offering suggestions of what can work and working with what I was envisioning. I did not do first looks, therefore time was tight, but working with Terrence, we were able to make it happen and have time to spare! Having a vendor that will create a timeline to go over with you is huge as it helps you plan your day! We we got our album, all of our friends and family raved about how amazing the pictures turned out and were thoroughly impressed with the quality. He and Dale captured some amazing candid moments that are some of our favorite of the album. We cannot thank Terrence enough and still are in awe over our photos! We highly recommend him to any couple looking to have their big day captured in the best way it can be!
