Hello, I’m Megan! Legacy preserver, fine art creator, wedding photographer...and completely-obsessed dog mom. (Send me an email with a picture of your fur baby attached and see how fast I respond!) Of all the things I could share about My Sun and Stars and my work as a wedding photographer, here’s the first thing I want you to know: I don’t believe in imposing a mood onto your memories. Trendy edits, filters, and lighting choices don't add anything to the meaningful moments you share on your wedding day. In fact, they can actually detract from your remembrance of them.

I've never really cared about weddings. I didn't grow up daydreaming about my own, or my perfect spouse. For most of my life I've been a shy, introverted nerd and my own wedding had less than 15 people. But what I do care about, I care about intensely. And at weddings? That's the relationships. Not just between spouses- but between parents, friends, chosen family. The people who are meeting for the first time, those who flew to be there. The flowers that represent time in a grandparent's garden. The menu based on the friend group's burrito tattoo. With cameras in hand, I focus on the things that matter most, the rest will work itself out.

I’ve dreamt of my day in many ways, working hard to make my wedding a *masterpiece*. My husband and I hired everyone who aligned with the vision and spent hours creating our dream wedding. (I promise I tried not to be a bridezilla) ..But it wouldn’t have mattered how much time, energy, love, and money anyone spent on our flowers or flights or cake or dresses, if it wasn’t going to be captured correctly. Megan not only brought to life my first kiss as a wife, she captured my husband’s uncle and aunt, freely dancing in their matching purple outfits to “Hey Ya” by OutKast. She captured my son and I having a genuine, heartfelt conversation, completely oblivious to the world -I didn’t know how much reliving that moment would mean me, but Megan knew. She captured the emotions I didn’t get to see and now I have them framed. Even when it came to “posed” photos (group photos with the fam, etc.) Megan not only made it easy to relax, but she gave us the energy to just be present with our family and now our photos are romantic and timeless and I love them! The thought and pride in each photograph is ever visible and we are elated with our choice of photographer. 10 out of 10, highly recommend. Thank you Megan! #supportsmallbusiness

My Sun and Stars Co is my absolute favorite photographer to have photograph my flowers. The photos always make me soo happy! They're accurate to reality, not edited to be sepia or whatever other filter, and its really wonderful to be a package offering.

Working with Megan and her husband for our engagement session was such a lovely experience. It was our first time being professionally photographed ever and we were expecting to feel super awkward. But it turned out to be a perfectly tolerable and even enjoyable few hours. We were given enough instruction to help some poses look better, but not so much that we couldn’t feel comfortable to be ourselves or settle into what felt natural — especially since most of the session was in our home. We were given a few Polaroid sneak pics on the day of that’ll attach. Megan has a great eye for detail and we can’t wait to work together again at our wedding!
