Violet Hour is a recurring daydream brought to life for owner and founder Amy Gilday. After 16 years of practicing law, working with flowers on the side every chance she got, Amy left her job to become a florist. She completed FlowerSchool New York’s floral design program and freelanced with various New York floral designers before beginning to take on her own clients. With the love and support of her amazing wife, two spoiled cats, and dear friends and family, she launched Violet Hour Floral Design in her beloved home of Brooklyn, NY. She’s never been happier.

Amy’s design style is elegant but playful, with a bit of a vintage vibe. She focuses on texture in addition to color and shape to create lush and sensually engaging arrangements. That said, Violet Hour is agile and designs florals in a variety of styles to suit each client’s unique aesthetic. Amy was such a joy to work with for our wedding. Right from the start, she made communication super easy—she was thoughtful, responsive, and clearly invested in making our day feel special. We weren’t totally sure what we wanted flower-wise, but Amy came through with great ideas and was happy to talk everything through with us. Her work was absolutely beautiful—each arrangement was unique and really brought the whole look of the wedding together. She was also incredibly helpful when we had to make some last-minute changes to our seating—thinking creatively about how to repurpose florals so nothing went to waste. And the bouquet she made for me—it was one of the prettiest things I have seen. And not heavy at all, which was key for me. Violet Hour Floral Design was fantastic from start to finish, and I’d absolutely recommend Amy to any couple planning their wedding.

Amy was amazing to work with for our wedding! She was super kind, easy to communicate with, and totally got our vision. She stayed within our budget and still created the most beautiful, moveable chuppah that we absolutely loved. Everything was stress-free with her—such a breeze from start to finish. Highly recommend! They are very nice and easy to talk to, and they tried to understand what we want exactly. Also, they are flexible about their plans, and they made it fits perfectly to the venue. The result was beautiful and magical. We were very satisfied.

We could not have asked for a better florist than Violet Hour Floral (and more specifically, the owner, Amy)! From the very beginning, she completely understood our vision and executed it flawlessly. Every arrangement was stunning, with the colors and details perfectly reflecting what we had discussed. Amy made the entire process easy and stress-free, always communicating clearly before and after the event. She is not only incredibly talented and creative but also warm and thoughtful. When I saw my bouquet for the first time, I burst into tears—it was that perfect. She even worked with my mom to incorporate a custom piece made from my mom’s wedding dress, making it even more special. Amy is truly gifted, and we are so grateful for her artistry and kindness.
