Venue considerations

  • No on-site guest accommodations
  • No free parking
  • No all-inclusive dining options
The New Bedford Whaling Museum was an exceptional venue for our wedding. Their communication throughout the planning process was great - the staff were readily available, super helpful, and made sure all our questions were answered promptly. The venue itself was beautiful, clean, and the perfect size for our 133 guests. The only minor inconvenience was that we were not able to drop off our decor the night before the wedding, and I had to coordinate with friends to bring it on the day of since our ceremony was in Rhode Island at 3pm. The Whaling Museum needs to communicate that with the catering company because they only allow certain catering companies. Come up with a better plan. Overall a great venue!

We live in Boston and wanted a local venue that showed off the best of Boston. AFH is an amazing non-profit gallery that works with local teenagers to create art. LARGE, industrial space with concrete floors and a large garage door with a private courtyard/patio. The venue is in South Boston, blocks away from the Broadway T station with a nearby parking garage. Easy mass transit and driving location right off of 93 and 90.

The Multicultural Arts Center

5.0

Cambridge, MA
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $5,600

This Victorian treasure was built in the late 1880s, and originally served as the county courthouse. It’s been lovingly restored, and boasts a two-story theater space with an exquisitely embellished ceiling and wraparound mezzanine balcony. In the warmer months, ceremonies may be held in Centanni Courtyard. This airy outdoor space continues the historic feel of the Arts Center with lawns, a large arbor, and brick pathways. Your rental fee helps support the Center’s mission: to educate the community about diversity through the presentation of multicultural arts programs, and to make the center available to artists and groups who may not otherwise have access to a professionally equipped space.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Natural elegance with open spaces
  • Bridal suite on site
  • Offers full flexibility in setup and decor

Venue considerations

  • On-site parking not available
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • No all-inclusive dining options

We held our wedding reception at the Multicultural Arts Center in Cambridge, and it was a beautiful venue to host our event. The space was a perfect size for our event with 125 guests, and the ceiling is a showstopper. The building is right on the small city park, Centanni Park, which is such a nice little green space in East Cambridge. The staff was friendly and easy to work with and helped us to create our dream reception. One thing to keep in mind when picking this venue is that you have to select from a list of preferred vendors for catering, and they will need to rent all of the plates, cutlery, glassware, catering supplies etc since the venue does not provide these items. Their list of caterers to choose from is a great list, but the extra cost of these rentals should be remembered when budgeting your event.

Venue considerations

  • Best for events with big guest lists
We LOVED having our wedding at Machines with Magnets. Everything about the night and the planning was absolutely seamless. We got compliments all night (and still to this day) that the drinks were the best our guests had ever had. The cocktails are that of a thoughtful bar program — not just a wedding venue. The same goes for furniture, art, and ambience. If you're looking to avoid the generic wedding venue vibe, look no further. Machines with Magnets is the type of place you want to go grab a drink or hang out for the night — not a large wedding venue created to churn and burn events. We loved that we were able to bring in our own vendors from all over, rather than having to stick to a small list. There's also a beautiful apartment attached to the venue that we chose to add-on, which was a great thing to have to get ready and store our belongings. Would highly recommend using the projector!

I attended a wedding vow renewal at/in Black Craft Salem's haunt. We all walked down the "aisle" which was the actual haunt. We followed the "bride and groom" throughout the haunt to the very end where the actual ceremony took place. There were beautiful glowing candles everywhere and the lighting was perfect. The BCS crew was very nice and made us all feel welcomed. I have NEVER been to a ceremony as thrilling, fun and terrifyingly beautiful as this one. I could not get over the atmosphere it was McCabe and, exciting and eerie at the same time.... I felt like I was on a movie set. . EVERYONE who loves Halloween, horror and haunts in general needs to have every type of ceremony in this venue - NOT just weddings and vow renewals. BORAH! was the officiant and was the funniest thing ever, she roasted the couple and made us laugh so hard we neven shed a few tears. Thank you BCS for hosting such a remarkable space for this ceremony. I will be booking my wedding at Black Craft if I ever decide to tie the knot.

There are very few magical people one encounters in their lifetime. Stephanie is one of those people. She promised us on the first day we met her our wedding day would be the best day of our lives and this promise did not fall short! From the moment we decided to have Stephanie coordinate our wedding up until our wedding day there was never a doubt in our minds we were in the best hands. Her meticulous attention to each detail, ability to use her industry contacts to get things done efficiently, and passion for event coordination shown through in everything she did. She had a vision of what a perfect wedding day would be and executed all of the small details that built this vision and made it possible. She went above and beyond what you would consider coordinator duties and even went to the town hall for us on occasions as we were long distance from the Cape! Stephanie took each step along the way to ensure we were able to avoid unnecessary costs, reduce stress, have fun, and plan an event of a lifetime. In the future any event we plan I know Stephanie would be our first choice to coordinate and she would do so flawlessly.

Most couples secure their Kingston venue about 15 months before their wedding date. November sees the highest volume of venue inquiries while June through September represents the peak wedding season with limited availability. Starting your search at least 18 months ahead gives you the best selection of dates and venues. This extra planning time really pays off, especially if you have your heart set on a specific location or a summer weekend.
