About this venue

Our historic, nineteenth-century, recently renovated barn is surrounded by natural beauty with picturesque rolling green pastures grazed by Angus cows and Border Leceister sheep, as well as hay fields, and crop and cut flower fields. Our stately barn sits at the top of a hill overlooking the Vloman Kill. Our family has farmed this land in Albany County, NY for over two hundred years and we would like to share this beautiful property with you for your special day.

    The Lucy Brate Barn at Mead Family Farm was the perfect venue for our wedding. From the moment we reached out, they were quick to respond, flexible, and accommodating. The venue itself is stunning, with a scenic, historic, and peaceful setting that made our special day feel truly magical. They handled every detail in a calm, professional manner, making our day seamless and helping us stay relaxed. They truly listened to our vision. It was perfect to have the ceremony outside because the setting is so beautiful. However, we had a rain plan that would have been equally lovely. We had a mobile bar that pulled up right outside the barn, and our guests simply walked outside to get a drink. Nancy and team put up a tent right next to the bar, with lounge chairs and bar tables. We had the barn doors open the entire evening, which provided a nice breeze and allowed our guests to mingle outside and still feel part of the gathering. They were there throughout the wedding day and helped with all the vendors, which made it much easier for us. I can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else - they are so accommodating and gracious, and we are so grateful to have had our wedding in such a special place.

    We had our wedding at the Lucy Brate Barn, and it was an incredibly beautiful, charming, and seamless event. The venue (and our photos) looked amazing, and we got so many compliments from our guests. The Mead Family Farm is so scenic, with the barn looking out over a small valley where you may catch a glimpse of the cows grazing in green fields between the rolling hills. The barn is impressively huge, easily fitting our 100 guests with plenty of room to spare. It has such an old-timey charm, made even cozier by the lights, flowers, and decorations. The large doors were wide open, letting in the breezy summer night air, and our guests were also enjoying the outdoor spaces, especially the beautiful patio out back, lined with flowers and greenery and decked with hanging lights. The farm was such a gorgeous place to get married! The Mead-Neff family is so hardworking, helpful, and accommodating — and incredibly calm and collected under the pressure of such a large event. They made the planning process easy and smooth, and they were there for us every step of the way. They really went above and beyond for us, and we are so grateful to them for making our wedding such a special and beautiful event! Thank you!!! We highly recommend the Lucy Brate Barn at Mead Family Farm!

    The Lucy Brate Barn at the Mead Family Farm is a fantastic wedding and event venue! Their attention to detail is unmatched. From the hand crafted tables to the beautifully crafted rustic barn doors, the entire barn is the definition of historic charm. The surrounding fields provide a gorgeous backdrop for photos especially as the sun sets and the strings of lights light up the cocktail and outdoor lounge areas. The barn is spacious to accommodate your guests comfortably. Best of all, the venue is right in the Albany area making it easily accessible. You will not regret having your event at the Mead Family Farm!

    The Lucy Brate Barn at Mead Family Farm is a wonderful wedding and event venue that is quiet on its own but close to all of the modern conveniences of Albany and neighboring towns. Located on a working farm that has been in the Mead Family for generations, celebrations at the barn feel homey and authentic. With outdoor space for ceremonies and cocktails, the inside of the barn is spacious with an open floor plan giving many options for layout and setup. We love working with the Lucy Brate Barn!
