I found Lori on the knot as she had great reviews. What I experienced was quite opposite, and when I left a 1-star review she avoided accountability and had it removed instead. My communication with Lori started out pretty well. She had missed our first scheduled call, which made me weary, but when the call happened I was convinced that she would do a good job. Her communication throughout the planning process was sometimes unorganized, where she would forget to make the changes we discussed or would make incorrect changes, but she was prompt to respond and correct issues. The process was somehow loaded with misunderstandings, which is where the true issue began. I had asked if she would be attending the rehearsal dinner the night before and she said no, acknowledging that we had the on-site rehearsal the morning of the wedding. I continued as usual with my coordinator, finalizing the timeline for the whole day, including the on site rehearsal (ran by the venue) in the morning. Long story short, Lori had a huge issue with not being the one to run the rehearsal. The week of the wedding, she was claiming that the day before rehearsal dinner was “another new change” even though we had discussed it the month prior. She became condescending in saying “I know wedding planning can be complicated for some people” and compared our venue to Scottish rite cathedral several times, as if weddings there are of a higher caliber, even saying that our venue “thinks they are unique” and that they were “treating our ceremony thoughtlessly”. After thinking we came to a compromise and resolved the issue, I continued receiving emails from Lori urging us to change our plans and dropping subtle, yet insulting comments. At this point, I felt the unprofessionalism had gone on too long as we fired her just 4 days before the wedding.

Oh my goodness. I wish there was a way to help Julia feel ok. There isn’t. I have a record of 8 consecutive years awards with Wedding Wire & four consecutive years awards with The Knot. I would like to stay on the high road with this bride even though she doesn’t follow life’s rules and has distorted what really happened. Something is odd here that in almost ten years, she’s the bride that I was unprofessional with. And interesting, if her account was factual, it seems important to her to try to embarrass me or hurt my business instead of going about her happy life. Now I know why some wedding professionals cancel. I would never but also never imagined this.
