Katie's background is in fibers/textiles, costume making and millinery. Working with her hands has always come naturally. After exploring a range of mediums in art school, she discovered that flowers combined everything she loved about being an artist. Line, gesture, color and texture suddenly expressed in every single stem. A world of possibilities. She ran her first floral studio in her beloved San Francisco before venturing to the Hudson Valley. There isn’t a day that goes by that she’s not thinking about flowers. Katie's style reflects her free spirit, poetic conscience and her love for the wild spontaneity in nature.

    We worked with Dark & Diamond for our Hudson Valley wedding, and they were incredible. My entire wedding (ceremony & tented reception) was outdoors and I wanted florals that fit the backdrop. I can't even describe how beautiful the flowers were -- colorful, slightly wild flowers that still felt elevated. They even created a natural meadow around our ceremony space that looked like it had always been there. Everything felt thoughtful and organic, not overly arranged. I got tons of compliments on my flowers and a huge thank you to Katie and her team for such a beautiful experience! I cannot recommend them enough.

    I am so thankful that I found Dark Diamond! They are not just florists, but true artists. They were so accommodating to work within my budget. The look of our flowers was inspired by the floral still life paintings by the old Dutch masters. On my wedding day when I saw my flowers, I was in awe of how incredible they were. Dark Diamond put together the most beautiful arrangements I've ever seen. I'm very confident that they can deliver on whatever your floral vision might be.
