The Heart and al of our wedding day!
Okay, so let me start by saying I never write reviews. This is probably the first one I’ve ever written, but I just had to because Italiana Foods honestly deserves it. I got married on August 30th in Southampton with about 250 guests. I was born and raised in Queens, and my husband’s family is from Italy , half from the North and half from the South so you can imagine the pressure I felt finding a catering that would impress everyone, especially my new Italian family! One of my coworkers told me about Italiana Foods after she tried their food at another wedding, saying it was “something totally different from anything you’ll find around here.” So I reached out about 8 months before our date, and from the very first call, Lucia was so sweet, friendly, and professional. She explained everything clearly and helped me build the perfect menu that balanced both families’ tastes. We did tastings with 5 different caterers in the area, and honestly… once we tried Italiana Foods, we knew. My coworker was right the food was on another level. Fast forward to the wedding day I was a nervous wreck, literally having a mini meltdown because I wanted everything perfect. Lucia called me the day before and gently told me to just enjoy my day and stop worrying because she’d be there personally to make sure everything went smoothly. And she was 100% right. The day was pure magic. The food was incredible fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Both my family and my husband’s family were blown away (especially his relatives from Italy, which says a lot!). Everywhere I looked, people were smiling, eating, and truly enjoying themselves. To the whole Italiana Foods team the 10 amazing waiters, the bartenders, and lucia herself thank you from the bottom of my heart for making our wedding day unforgettable. I’ll absolutely be calling you again for any future events. From my family to yours grazie!
Dream wedding!!!
We chose Italiana Foods for our wedding in the Catskills, NY and honestly, it was one of the best decisions we made for the whole day! We started planning the menu almost a year before, and the team was just amazing from the beginning. They were so patient with me (and my endless back-and-forths about changing things!), always kind and helpful in creating the perfect menu. Coming from an Italian family, our saying has always been “go big or go home” and Italiana Foods was definitely the biggest quote we got, but every single penny was worth it. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully prepared, and served hot and fresh all night. The waitstaff was incredible super attentive to our guests, making sure everyone was taken care of. From cocktail hour to dinner and even the dessert station, everything ran so smoothly and right on time. Even months after the wedding, people are still talking about how good the food was. That honestly means the world to me, because great food is what people remember and Italiana Foods nailed it. Highly recommend them to anyone who wants their wedding meal to be unforgettable.
Good, but there is room for improvement
First, we want to recognize that the food itself was delicious. Many of our guests complimented the flavors and quality of their meals, which we truly appreciated. However, there were several issues that left us disappointed and fell short of what we expected for such an important day: • Punctuality: Cocktail service was scheduled for 4:00pm, yet refreshments were not ready until around 4:30pm. This delayed the start of our celebration. • Bartender service: The bartender left the bar multiple times throughout the night to make espresso. At one point, my husband had to step in to serve guests because no one was present behind the bar. This should have been prepared in advance. • Menu substitution: The scallops we selected were missing and appeared to be replaced by veal. While the veal was tasty, it was not the dish we had planned, and this caused confusion and disappointment for guests who expected the seafood option, as reflected on the printed menus. • Cocktail shortage and alcohol miscommunication: Leading up to the wedding, there was significant miscommunication around alcohol service that left us feeling it was a last-minute upcharge. We were told Italian Foods would provide the five cocktails we selected, but what was actually offered felt skimped and poorly prepared. For example, the elderflower cocktail ran out before dinner service began, which gave the impression that only a single bottle of St. Germain was supplied. With just five cocktails promised, this was unacceptable. • Day-of questions and lack of preparation: On the day itself, you asked us whether we had glassware and ice available. These were details that should have been confirmed well in advance, particularly with our event coordinator Marcus, whom we had tried to connect you with several times. Because there was no communication about glassware, Marcus had to step in at the last minute to purchase clear plastic cups to ensure service could continue. • Staff behavior: Multiple guests informed us that they overheard staff in the kitchen openly grumbling about being at the event. Several of our guests are fluent in Italian, so this did not go unnoticed. Such behavior is inappropriate at a client’s wedding. While our wedding was a magical and meaningful night, these issues left a noticeable tarnish on the experience. We hope you take this feedback into account for your future clients, as the quality of your food shows great potential, but the execution of service, preparation, and professionalism unfortunately did not meet expectations.
Response from vendor•Oct 31, 2025Hello Justin, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we’re very glad to hear that you and your guests enjoyed the food — that truly means a lot to us. We always take every comment seriously and would like to clarify a few points for accuracy. Regarding the menu, the dish you referred to as “scallops” was actually veal, exactly as written and confirmed on your final approved menu. There was no seafood course listed or discussed at any point during the planning process. Everything served reflected what was clearly stated on your signed proposal. Concerning the bar service, your package included a limited bar at $15 per guest, which is an excellent value for the selection provided. It was clearly explained that this was not an open bar, meaning drinks would be served until the allocated amount of alcohol was finished. Considering your event ran from 5:00 PM to 11:30 PM, it was expected that certain cocktails might run out earlier in the evening. In regard to ice and glassware, these were not included in the limited bar package, as noted on your menu details. You had chosen to provide all the paper goods and plastic items, including cups, and we had advised you in advance to bring extra quantities to ensure you wouldn’t run out during the event. Lastly, we’re sorry to hear about your comments regarding staff demeanor. We will certainly look into this, as professionalism and respect are priorities for our entire team. We appreciate your feedback and are happy that the quality and flavor of the food were well received by your guests. We wish you both all the best in your new journey together. Warm regards, Lucia & the Italiana Foods TeamA Dream Come True - Just Like Being Back in Italy
Choosing Italiana Foods to cater our wedding was one of the best decisions we made for our big day. From the very first consultation, their team was not only professional and organized, but also incredibly warm and passionate about creating something truly special for us. They worked closely with us to design the perfect menu one that felt elegant, meaningful, and deeply personal. The food? Absolutely unforgettable. Every single bite transported us straight back to our memories of Italy the real Italy. Not the kind of Italian food you find at most restaurants in America, but the kind that fills the air in the streets of Rome, or the kind your nonna would make with love. Our guests are still talking about the flavors - the richness, the freshness, the authenticity. It was more than just a meal; it was an experience. Italiana Foods didn't just cater our wedding they brought soul, warmth, and a little piece of Italy to our celebration. I can't thank them enough for making our dream come true. If you're looking for real Italian food made with heart, this is it.
