Nina Berry Square Dance Calling

5.0

Pescadero, CA
  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $1,600

Nina Berry calls square dances throughout the Bay Area and Northern California in the traditional style— no experience necessary, always with a live band. These dances put the focus on the fun and party first, followed by learning something new in the rich tradition of square dancing. Nina calls every month at the Third Saturday Barn Dance at Pie Ranch, as well as private parties and events.

Awarded Best of Zola
Nina and the band members she organized and brought in for our wedding were amazing. Nina picked great songs, and somehow a room full of novices were able to follow along much better than I thought we would! Everyone had such a blast, and Nina's ungendered calling meant that all my guests were fully included, whoever they were and whoever they were dancing with. Nina was great at communicating beforehand and she and the band members were really patient with us and friendly and flexible. Bringing in a square dance caller and string band was the one thing I really splurged on in our low-budget wedding, and I would definitely do it all over again.

Everything about our experience with Venture was genuinely terrific from start to finish. A team of hard-working people who are willing to help with anything that they are able to. Communication was top-notch throughout the entire process, and the kindness exemplified by everyone who works there could not be overstated. The location is not only beautiful, but the positive energy one feels when walking around and staying on site is so powerful! I knew it was where I wanted to get married the moment I got out of the car on my first visit. Prior to visiting venture, we had looked at several other locations and had done a ton of online research. Many other venues were outrageously priced, even at a base cost, with basic amenities being additional costs. On top of being more expensive from the jump, the environments offered were not nearly as beautiful and fully realized as Venture. The newly built kitchen is stunning and so functional! All of the bathrooms with flushable toilets, electricity, and outlets made my less nature oriented guests feel very comfortable. Overall, everybody had a fantastic time, and every need my husband I had throughout this process was more than met. You will not regret spending time here at Venture Retreat Center, whether that’s for your wedding or just to book a stay for an escape from stressful life. Book with Venture, your heart will be happy! 3

Kaci Danae Events

5.0

  • Planner
  • Offers 3 services
  • Starts at $500
  • Serves Pescadero, CA

I’ve always been inspired by the strong, ambitious women in my life who built successful small businesses in the hospitality industry — from restaurant owners and bakers to caterers and florists. Growing up surrounded by their entrepreneurial spirit, I was motivated to follow my own path and create something meaningful in the world of events. After spending two years working as a Wedding Coordinator at the Westin, the pandemic hit and forced a pause on hotel weddings. That unexpected turn of events only fueled my determination to turn my passion into a full-time business. And so, Kaci Danae Events was born.

Awarded Best of Zola
Kaci was the perfect day-of-coordinator and we highly, highly recommend her. She shepherded us through the month- and day-of calmly and confidently and made the wedding day run smoothly. About a month before, we met with her to discuss our priorities for our wedding, establish a timeline, and make sure we were on top of all the details. She came to this meeting very organized, and prompted us to think about things that weren't even on our radar - as an example, whether we wanted a grand entrance and what song we'd like for that. As we got closer to the wedding day, she took over communicating with our vendors and provided all of them with detailed itineraries and instructions. A few of our vendors told us that Kaci was one of the more organized coordinators they've worked with. She was very responsive if we had questions or wanted clarifications and was always open to more communication. On the day of, she was perfect - we felt totally at ease knowing that all of the vendors knew the plan and that Kaci would tell us where to be and when. She had a calming tone and checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed, and was instantly responsive if we needed anything or wanted to make last-minute changes. We were able to focus entirely on enjoying the party. We are so glad we chose Kaci!!

Where do I begin?.. It can be an overwhelming decision when it comes to wedding vendors. When we came across Carlos @ Garciapics we were initially intrigued by his location being that he is in our hometown. Upon meeting him the first time, we were greeted with his enthusiastic personality, he came well prepared with portfolio shoots & pricing details. The fact that he was available & willing to travel to our ceremony location, beach wedding photo shoot and reception venue was a major bonus. There is no doubt in my mind we made the right choice to hire him for our special occasion. I feel so blessed and honored to have come across such an amazing photographer. I am grateful for his continued communication after we decided on hiring his services, he kept in touch regularly and responded promptly to any inquiries we had. I had family and friends videoing parts of our ceremony where he could be seen fluffing and fixing our aisle runner. That really touched our hearts, Carlos, we can’t thank you enough. The pictures were sent earlier than expected and we enjoyed reliving the moments captured. I wish I could attach all the memories but will include a few beautiful shots that he put together for us. We highly recommend his photography business! Thanks to your wife as well. God Bless.

Hello! I’m so excited for the chance to work with you. I’m a former teacher who has always had a passion for photography. I started working freelance in 2015 and did a lot of my first jobs in the music industry. I shot Warped Tour a few times and even had one of my promos featured by AP magazine. I quickly realized I loved working with couples the most, and now focus on couple and family portraits and weddings!

Awarded Best of Zola
Thalia saved our wedding. We had to change photographers very last minute and were super worried about hiring someone new. Then we found Thalia and from the moment we had our first intro call with her we had a feeling that everything was going to work out. She was so professional, during our first call she was very well organized and clear about what she would need from us. She took her time to make sure we were a great match and to understand our vision. She was personable and kind, speaking with her felt like talking to a friend right away. She was considerate, during all parts of the wedding she made sure to give us time alone together and we never felt rushed. Even still she constantly captured the most breath taking photos. Lastly she was so much fun! Our guests loved her and thought she had the most wonderful energy. She directed us very well. Looking over the pictures I’ve never felt so beautiful. She even brought her own props to go with our theme for the pictures. A vintage camera and tray. Everything she did was so thoughtful. I wish we could have another wedding just to have her photograph it. You will not regret working with Thalia. We feel so incredibly lucky to have gotten the opportunity.

Natasha's Treats was an absolute delight to work with for our wedding. Their communication through text and email was always prompt, professional, and helpful. The quality of their work was truly exceptional - the wedding cake they created for us was not only beautiful and intricately detailed, but also delicious. They even went above and beyond by delivering the cake on a Sunday and setting it up perfectly at the venue. We couldn't have asked for a better vendor to help make our special day even more memorable. We highly recommend Natasha's Treats to any couple planning their wedding! We never felt behind schedule or rushed because Yoko and team were so organized and on top of it. They really took care of us throughout the entire process. Something we appreciate is that they anticipated we'd need breaks during the day and scheduled those for us as well, they also made sure we were fed and hydrated throughout! We held our wedding reception at Saratoga Springs in the Cathedral Grove region of the venue on a Saturday in October. After visiting them for a walkthrough, we booked this venue about a year and a few months in advance. This was the first venue we visited and we fell in love! We felt a great family-like vibe from the staff, starting with Jennifer who coordinated our initial booking and tour. Throughout our time preparing for this event, Olivia and Sam were extraordinary in their communication, response time, and knowledge of these events. They did a wonderful job in helping us understand what we needed vs. what we wanted and good decisions to make. They never tried to upsell us on more expensive options, always letting us know the best value for what we wanted. Throughout this process, we knew we had made the right choice in terms of staff. Scenically, Saratoga Springs is stunning! An outdoor venue with several different species of large trees like oaks and redwoods, many small creeks that run through and around the venue, and several amenities included such as lights that wrap around the trees, a firepit, and artificial turf that you can actually wear high heels on! We were in love with the scenery immediately because our reception was LOTR/Legend of Zelda themed and this was perfect for us. Throughout the actual event, the Saratoga Springs staff was excellent. They assisted us and our own day of wedding coordinators in running the event and making sure we had everything that they could provide. Our reception was during a brutal heat wave in the Bay Area, but Cathedral Grove had so many large trees that the shade they provided meant the floor never got hot and it felt more like 75 degrees which was SO essential for the comfort of ourselves and our guests. Everything was great, and we give the venue and their staff a 10/10. There was one glaring issue we want to address. The DJ we booked, Paul Dominguez, was a very nice man. He seemed to be on top of it, being in constant communication with us leading up to the event. We felt that he was going to do a great job. Yet, when it came time for the event, he made SEVERAL mistakes in what we asked him to do that we felt the need to address this situation and performance. He is part of the approved vendor list for DJs but we honestly feel Saratoga Springs needs to either reevaluate him or discuss this with him because literally everything else about the night was perfect for us, except him. Again, he is a nice guy and even provided cold sparklers for us for free which we really appreciated, but the lack of attention to detail in several aspects of this night was something we felt we needed to address here. Overall, Saratoga Springs is an excellent venue choice for a big event like a wedding/reception and we are happy to recommend anyone looking for a venue. We had an amazing experience for our reception and we are very satisfied with the staff and scenery of this venue.

Welcome and congratulations on your engagement! You’re here because you already have a good handle on the planning process and just need a calm, organized and fun person to ensure everything comes together seamlessly. That’s me! Hi, I’m Patricia. As a former Executive Assistant it was easy to transition to becoming a Wedding Coordinator. I traded managing CEOs and their schedules for managing couples and theirs! I’ve been in the wedding industry since 2006, starting with designing invitations and full planning to where I am now.

Awarded Best of Zola
Honestly. Patricia was fabulous. As the Mother of the Bride, I watched her handle vendors, last minute surprises, and all of our guests with Grace and Professionalism. I never experienced any anxiety and knew that she had absolutely everything under control. My husband and I arrived before anyone else and watched as she seamlessly made sure that everything was done as planned. Her presence was barely noticeable except when needed and then she would almost magically appear anticipating the need. I am so impressed with her skills and I would wholeheartedly recommend her to my closest friends and family.

Opened in spring of 2001, the Los Altos History Museum resides in an impressive three-level, 8,200-square-foot building – built entirely with private donations; building ownership was transferred to the City of Los Altos in 2002. The Museum features a changing exhibits gallery as well as the permanent exhibit, “Crown of the Peninsula,” that describes the rich history of Los Altos and the surrounding area.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Pets can join the celebration
  • Dressing room available
  • Space for a large guest list

Venue considerations

  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists
  • Requires outside catering services
  • No on-premises lodging options
Bride’s Perspective Our wedding was a candlelit pizza party in the garden—casual, approachable, and elegant all at once. About 80 guests came. The ceremony was under the tree near the entrance. During cocktail hour, some guests (especially families with kids) enjoyed docent-led tours of the house. For dinner, we seated everyone at two long banquet tables on the bricks. While a lot of us were dancing inside, guests also gathered outside around the heaters under blankets we provided. The venue’s gardens and old trees meant we needed very little décor — we went with some DIY Trader Joe’s flowers & lots of candles. When the sun set, the glow from the candles and string lights provided by LAHM was magical. One highlight was cutting the cake at the end of the tables, looking out at our laughing, candlelit guests. We expected warm October weather, but the forecast dipped into the low 60s. Propane heaters worked perfectly, and combined with candles, lights, and blankets, the night felt intimate and warm. We live close to the venue and got ready at home, which turned out to be ideal—relaxed, convenient, and comfortable. Before planning, I imagined a rustic barn wedding, while my husband wanted something elegant. The museum was the perfect balance — and better than either of us pictured. Working with Lisa was wonderful. She was professional, responsive, and calm from the first walkthrough through the end of the night. I enjoyed checking in with her throughout the event, and everything ran smoothly. We trusted her recommendations and appreciated how she coordinated with all our vendors. We joke that if we ever got married again, we’d do it all the same — same space, same people, same Lisa! Groom’s Perspective We knew our venue search was over when we found the Los Altos History Museum. Lisa, the venue coordinator, not only manages a beautiful space but also brings clarity with straightforward policies and transparent pricing, which gave us freedom to design the day exactly how we wanted. The event moved naturally through the property: ceremony under the trees, cocktails near the house, dinner on the bricks, and dancing inside. It felt private but accessible, and the gardens were perfect for photos. My favorite moment was watching the sun set over dinner as candles and string lights took over. Lisa was fantastic — responsive, flexible, and organized. She met with our vendors in advance and made space to store supplies several days ahead of the wedding. She was the first to arrive and last to leave. She even helped pack our car at the end of the night. A few notes for future couples: there’s limited getting-ready space (we used our home, which worked great), tenting for rain can be tricky and expensive, and there’s no commercial kitchen. None were issues for us, and Lisa explained these points to us early so there were no surprises. Vendor List: Coordinator: Taylor Rae Weddings Catering [Appetizers, Dinner]: Gigi mobile wood-fired kitchen Catering [Service, Setup, Breakdown, Bar]: Heirloom Catering Co. On our wedding day, she brought the best energy (especially working in 100 heat during our ceremony), she captured our wedding so beautifully and her style of editing is absolutely gorgeous. I highly recommend her if you're looking for someone to capture your special day.

Adrianne has done my makeup for several occasions- as a guest for my cousin’s wedding, as a bridesmaid for my brother’s wedding and my own wedding. For every occasion I told her my concerns, what areas I would really like focused on and what could have more coverage and she would get it right all the time. Each time I had my makeup done with her I received so many compliments! It is always a pleasure to work with Adrianne and I hope in the future I have more occasions to get my make up done again by her.

We got married May of this year and Tim was an amazing videographer. Tim and his team did a great job capturing all of the special moments throughout the day, and the final videos we received were expertly assembled and really gave us a special way to relive the memories of our big day. If you are unsure about hiring a videographer, I would encourage you to do so, and definitely would recommend hiring Tim. We had a pretty involved timeline and he was patient, professional, and very helpful throughout the process. His team was able to capture several amazing shots, utilizing drones to really capture the beauty of the scenery and the day of our wedding from multiple angles. Getting to relive the day of our wedding through Tim's video was/is incredibly worth it. Thank you so much Tim for helping us capture our big day!

Awarded Best of Zola
I hired Kim Baker Beauty to do hair and makeup for me for my wedding in Sausalito. Kim and Amber were amazing throughout the whole process and did an amazing job on both my own hair and makeup and the rest of my wedding party. I never wear makeup and my (now) husband dislikes it so I was most nervous about looking like myself on my wedding day but Kim checked in at every stage to make sure I liked the way the makeup looked and felt like myself. If you’re looking for really professional and stress free wedding hair and makeup hire Kim! You won’t regret it.
